As a result of Rockstar Games31 Decision to Dismiss Grand Theft Auto 6 As developers continue to spiral into what they call “gross misconduct,” 220 Rockstar North staff members have written a joint letter demanding their former colleagues be reinstated immediately. Rockstar has already faced backlash from sacked employees and government agencies in the United Kingdom, and now remaining employees have backed their ouster team members.
It was first revealed on October 31 that Rockstar had fired dozens GTA 6 Developers, although the reason for the termination was unknown at the time. In the weeks that followed, however, some former employees accused Rockstar of union busting, as all affected members were in talks to join a union or were active members of such organizations. Despite Rockstar's insistence that no laws were broken with the firing, the Independent Workers' Union of Great Britain (IWGB) has questioned the legality of the move. As the potential for litigation continues, those at Rockstar North have now clarified which side of the dispute they are on.
The remaining Rockstar staff voice support for their fired colleagues
On November 13, the IWGB released an official statement announcing that 220 Rockstar staff members had written a letter to “management at the company” with a joint demand to “immediately reinstate” all 31 fired employees. Several protests against Rockstar Games have been organized by the IWGB and former employees, with gatherings taking place outside the Rockstar North offices in Edinburgh, as well as Take-Two offices in London and Paris. More protests are planned for November 18, although it remains unknown at this time if current employees will join their former colleagues on the picket lines.
Rockstar continues to defend its decision, claiming that the fired workers violated company policy by leaking confidential information to a public Discord server that included non-employee members. On the other hand, the fired employees have said that the server was only used to discuss the merger, hence the legal problems facing Rockstar.
Fans and industry experts have already speculated that further backlash could prove detrimental, especially later on GTA 6 Again there was a delay, and many predict if there will be more delays Rockstar Games Any hot water with the UK government ends up. As it stands, no official evidence has been provided in a court of law to support or refute either side's argument, and it remains to be seen whether the case will progress that far or whether the two sides will settle for a settlement anytime soon.
