He is a family man through and through, and by far the most career oriented character Dragon BallDoing a very traditional job as a scholar. Becoming the God of Destruction doesn't really suit Gohan and doesn't make him happy, even if his sound judgment and work ethic make him an excellent candidate to replace Beerus.

It would make sense on paper for Beerus to make Goku the next God of Destruction, and this development has been teased several times. Dragon Ball Super. That said, Goku is going down a very different path. And in itself, Ultra Instinct shows that Goku is closer to an angel than a god of destruction. Goku is a few arcs past developing Whistle's teachings, unlike Beerus, and Raw Destruction doesn't fit Goku's character.

Broly's potential makes him the perfect God of Destruction candidate
Broly is chaos and destruction personified. In his legendary Super Saiyan form, Broly fights from pure animalistic instincts. LSSJ Broly is very powerful, he was able to defeat Goku, Vegeta and Frieza Dragon Ball Super: BrolyGoku and Vegeta had to fuse into Gogeta to stand a chance, and completely transform into Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta to defeat Broly for good.
With some more training, Broly will eventually be able to control his legendary Super Saiyan transformation, making him a perfect candidate as the God of Destruction. The main problem with Broly being Beerus' successor is two-fold: he still has a long ways to go before he'll be able to transform into a legendary Super Saiyan at will, and he's dumb as a stump. Broly clearly makes Goku look like a bull as far as smarts are concerned – he probably won't make the best decisions when it comes to saving and destroying planets. Yeah, neither does Beerus.

Vegeta is Beerus' apprentice and is currently being groomed as the God of Destruction
Beginning with the Granolah Saga, Goku and Vegeta begin to take very different paths in their training. When Goku embraces Whis's angelic training to become fully adept at Ultra Instinct, Vegeta realizes that UI does not suit him and begins training exclusively with Beerus, fully studying his destructive powers. As a symbol of Vegeta's growth, Beerus also gives Vegeta the God of Destruction crop, which Vegeta wears for the rest of the arc.
7 Dragon Ball Super Characters Stronger Than Ultra Ego Vegeta
Ultra Ego Vegeta may be stronger than Ultra Instinct Goku (for now), but he's not the strongest character in Dragon Ball Super.
While fighting Granolah, Vegeta unlocks his own unique form: Ultra Ego. Ultra Ego Vegeta is basically the God of Destruction in all but name. Channeling pure destructive power, Ultra Ego Vegeta becomes stronger in battle, funneling any damage he takes at higher power levels. Right now Vegeta's biggest weakness is that he can't control Ultra Ego very well, but with some more training, he would make a perfect replacement for Beerus and already has a personality suited for calculated destruction.

Becoming the next God of Destruction of Universe 7 is the perfect job for Frieza
The only character better suited to replace Beerus than Vegeta is Frieza: The Strongest Mortal Dragon Ball Super. At the end of the Granolah Saga, Frieza arrives with a new transformation and easily defeats Gas, Goku, and Vegeta without breaking a sweat. Black Frieza is the most powerful transformation DBS Now, and none of the main characters are even close to catching him by the far end. Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
Once the Black Frieza Saga begins, the Z-Fighters are in for an uphill battle unlike any other. If the worst happens, the best way to calm Frieza is for Beerus to offer him the role of God of Destruction. While Frieza becoming the God of Destruction sounds dangerous on paper, everything is inside Dragon Ball Frieza is actually a good employer and suggests taking his job as a galactic dictator seriously, with professional decorum. To keep Universe 7's majority status high and on good terms with Zeno, Frieza would actually do a great job of being a GoD. He needs to keep his prejudices in check.
