Gohan is back to being one of the strongest characters Dragon Ball After falling in too hard Super. Since its debut in 2008 Z, Gohan is defined by his superior ability but lack of passion when it comes to fighting. That trait has seen Gohan consistently passed over by characters like Goku and Vegeta, often relegating a character fans know can be one of the series' strongest to a supporting role.
But with his new Beast transformation, Gohan is back in the mix as one of the top fighters in the series. As we eagerly await new Dragon Ball stories from the manga, let's take a look at some of the more powerful characters from the series who, at the end of the day, are still weaker than Gohan.
Dragon Ball Z: Goku Giving Cell A Senju Bean was secretly genius
Goku giving Cell the Senju Bean has a lot of depth and nuance. Gohan's entire plan for Goku to defeat Senjuma Cell.
Orange Piccolo
Super Hero was definitely Gohan's time to shine, but you can't ignore Piccolo's role and his own achievements throughout the film. Piccolo reasoned that his former student pulled himself out of the rut he was in and once again tapped into his potential to become Universe 7's strongest fighter. He also got his own moments that proved he still has a lot in the tank, with his new Orange Piccolo form standing out.
The transformation instantly puts him up there as one of Universe 7's strongest fighters. While not strong enough to beat Cell Max, Piccolo is once again a truly relevant fighter, able to stand on par with Goku and Vegeta once again, though we'll have to see more from him to see how much the gap has closed.
Granolah
Granola was one of the more interesting additions to the super. Although Granolah only appeared during the manga's The Survivor Saga, he made an impression on fans thanks to his solid backstory and incredible drive. A skilled bounty hunter, Granolah was not a character who would normally be in conversation with characters like Gohan, Goku, or Vegeta. But a wish made him the strongest in the universe for a while, allowing him to stand up to UI Goku and UE Vegeta.

It won't last long, though, and granolah will soon be replaced by gas. Even so, there was a time when Granolah was much stronger than Gohan. Considering how the events of Super Heroes take place after Granolah the Survivor Saga, Gohan has long passed Granolah, if he's still alive.
Gas
Before his brother wanted him to become Universe 7's strongest mortal, Gas was still a threat. The muscle of the Heeter family and by far the strongest, Gas served as Granolah's best adversary during Granolah the Survivor Saga, pushing her as well as UI Goku and UE Vegeta to their limits.
We saw how strong Gas had become following the will when he managed to hold his own against Goku and Vegeta when the Saiyans put all of their fighting power into it. However, even at his strongest, Gas is nowhere near Gohan's power that he has unlocked the beast. We'll never see a match between these two, but if Gas hadn't broken and Black Frieza had finished, he probably wouldn't still be compared to Gohan as he is now.
cell max
Cell Max could be much stronger than we've seen Super heroBut even though he never reached his full potential, the Bio-Android was one of Super's scariest and most destructive villains. Although he lacked original agency and remained in semi-perfect form, Cell Max proved to be a formidable challenge. Even Piccolo, with his powerful new transformation, wasn't able to match up well against him.
Although Cell Max was able to withstand an onslaught of attacks from Gohan, Piccolo, Trunks, Goten, Krillin, Android 18, and Gama, he was quickly defeated by Gohan when he achieved his Beast Form. Thanks to Piccolo holding the massive Berserker in place, Gohan Beast was able to fully charge his own version of the Special Beam Cannon, dealing a devastating blow to Cell Max and defeating the enemy Gohan and Piccolo weren't sure could even defeat Goku and Vegeta.
Broly
Out of everyone on this list, Broly hands down has the most potential. The Legendary Super Saiyan was introduced as a raw but talented fighter, showing an extraordinary ability to fight, grow and learn from others more powerful than himself as we have never seen before in the series.
Broly is the one character mentioned here that would give Gohan a run for his money as he currently is. We've seen Broly reach some of the highest heights in the series in a short amount of time, taking on both Goku and Vegeta and even putting up a good fight against Gogeta before he finally got stronger. It's likely that we'll see Gohan and Broly continue to grow when the series returns, so expect the two Saiyans to remain among the strongest in the series for now.
