The PS2 has one of the largest and most comprehensive libraries of all time. From platformers to RPGs to shooters, fans of every genre were covered, which is probably why it sold so well. As with many consoles with large libraries, some games will inevitably get lost in the shuffle.
PS2 games that deserve the God of War reboot treatment
These characters from PlayStation 2 games can lead to new reboots in their franchises, like Kratos did.
Even if they don't play on the original hardware, the hope is to return to other consoles someday with a remaster or port, e.g. Final Fantasy 10, cried the devil, Resident Evil 4And so did many other great PS2 games. These other PS2 games weren't all that lucky, and they deserve the extra spotlight.
Champions of Norrath: Realms of Everquest
PS2's Diablo
Champions of Norrath: Realms of Everquest Apparently there was a spinoff from EverQuest An MMO, instead, is more like a top-down action RPG Diablo. Players can choose one of five preset classes, such as warrior or ranger, and go on a more linear set of quests, usually amounting to killing monsters of some sort.
It didn't challenge the mind intellectually, but it was a great action game with friends. like DiabloThe real fun was going in repeatedly to get better loot at higher levels and higher challenge ratings. This, along with its sequels Champions: Return to ArmsPS2 has never left.
Maximo: Ghosts to Glory
Ghosts 'N Goblins Reborn
Ghosts 'N Goblins gave NES players growing up nightmares alongside the SNES sequel, as it was one of the hardest games on the system. Years later, Capcom approved what it called a reboot Maximo: Ghosts to GloryIt was also called a sequel Maximo vs. Jin's Army.
Maximo: Ghosts to Glory It was still challenging, but not to any unreasonable degree. It was a more balanced action platformer like some other PS2 platformers at the time, eg Ratchet and clank. The titular Maximo had a sword and shield at his disposal, and players could pick up upgrades along the adventure to boost his arsenal. Both games were digitally ported to the PS3, but that's about it.
The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction
A prototype of a prototype
The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction The PS2 didn't have a generic licensed superhero game because the developer, Radical Entertainment, actually cared about the project. This is the best game starring The Hulk yet, as players were free to run around the big city and do what The Hulk does best: smash. From his normal fists to gloves reinforced using car parts, players had a wealth of devastating options.
PS2 games that are still hard to live up to
The greatest console of all time naturally has some all-time classics.
Also made by Radical Entertainment prototype games, and there is a clear positive line between those games and The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. It's a shame they never got a second try at making a game based on The Hulk, or that the game was lost in time due to licensing.
Psi-Ops: Mindgate Conspiracy
Supernatural detective
Psi-Ops: Mindgate Conspiracy is a spy thriller starring an agent who can use his brain to harness supernatural powers. The third-person shooting mechanics were fine, but it was the aforementioned strengths that helped this game stand out. Players can pick up objects and throw them at enemies, or pick up enemies and throw them and use them as weapons.
Other powers include the ability to light things on fire, mind control, out-of-body research, and more. While the game is coming to PC later, it is not available for purchase or backwards compatibility on PS2 or Xbox systems on any PC gaming sites.
Klonoa 2: Veil of Lunate
A silly platformer
Klonoa 2: Veil of Lunate was a 2.5D platformer in which some levels were 2D and others had a 3D effect. It was a great game from Namco, but it didn't reach the same heights as other mascot-powered games. Jack and Daxter or Sly Cooper Games. The whimsical nature of the world, the bright colors, and the chipper music are all made up Klonoa 2: Veil of Lunate A blast to play, although it wasn't too challenging.
Like the original game, the titular Klonoa had a magic ring to grab enemies and then use them as stepping stones to toss them at others or get an extra jump boost. This is one of the rare exceptions of a PS2 game that has been preserved through Klonoa Phantasy Reverie SeriesThat includes the original game.

8 Late PS2 RPGs Nobody Remembers
Even after the launch of the next generation of consoles, many RPGs were released on the PS2 and soon after were completely forgotten.
The shooting mechanics are as responsive as anything Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando or Jack 2And watching robots get smashed to scrap never gets old. Also, the inclusion of some vehicles, from buggies to hovering turrets, has helped diversify the level design.
