New details on the rumored Resident Evil 0 remake shared online

As exciting, or perhaps even more exciting, than getting a brand-new Resident Evil game in the form of Resident Evil Requiem, is the prospect of getting more RE remakes in the vein of RE 2, 3 and 4.

For a while, it's been rumored that both Code Veronica and Zero would be the next games to get the “remake” treatment, but now, via a new report from MP1st, we have some more details on the status of Zero, where it sits in the development pipeline.

Hint: Things are perfect.

Resident Evil may be a very familiar actor in Zero

In a report by MP1st, it is noted that the Zero remake project has been in the works for a few years, and is under the codename “Chamber”, a misnomer for the protagonist Rebecca's last name.

Performance capture and voice work reportedly began in 2024, and what's more, John McLaren, who was Star Lord in the vastly underrated Guardians of the Galaxy video game, appears in the role. The resume shared by MP1st notes that McLaren has “Project Chamber” listed.

When the game is released, it will receive an expanded lore, including a segment at the beginning of the game, giving the remake “more cinematic structure.” We won't spoil that segment, but feel free to check out the MP1st piece to find out how things are unfolding.

As a final note, it looks like we won't be seeing Zero for a while. With Requiem targeting an early next year release, as well as Code Veronica reportedly following in 2027, that gives Zero a window to 2028, which is a long way off. Technically speaking, we should have played Zero by now, but the reboot in 2024 greatly influences things, according to previous reporting.

Still, if it means a better, more complete experience in the end, we'll take the delay.
