When I'm a flex player Overwatch 2And with an absolutely deadly Reinhardt and Reaper in my arsenal, support is the role I feel most comfortable in — and it's all because of Mercy. The pressure at the top of my game as a tank or damage can be too much at times, esp Overwatch 2 Just one of many games in my rotation, and I'm often out of practice when I hop in a few times a week to play. Mercifully, though, I can do well even if I'm rusty, because moves like superjumps and good ridge positioning are things that are permanently etched in my brain. Still with over 500 hours on the angelic hero, I'm fully aware that she's in need of a change – a change that Season 19 is unlikely to provide.
What's wrong with Mercy of Overwatch 2?
While Mercy has fallen on stellar skins as of late (seriously, my poor wallet needs a break blizzard), I can't say it's been any fun to play. Mercy has always struggled in the higher ranks because her kit is simple in purpose; She is the game's “starter” support, mostly DPS for Soldier:76 newcomers. Playing mercy is always a risk because there are so many things that mercy can affect combat. You're always gambling on having a solid damage-dealer worth increasing damage to, as Battle Mercy can wreak havoc for a while, winning games with Diamond and above is pretty rare for that playstyle. As a true support, Daya is seen as a hero who has no value and doesn't deserve to be on the team – something that has directly contributed to me playing him less.
while remains Sombra's primary target Overwatch 2Of hero bans, there is a fairly large portion of players who will insta-ban Mercy if they see someone like me pre-selecting her. These players have essentially decided that Mercy is always a bad choice because of her lack of playability, making it difficult for Mercy mains to play competitive mode. While I've been lucky enough to play other supports like Illari and Kiriko, Mercy is one of the most common one-trick characters, meaning many players are getting turned off by the only hero they play. This feels counterproductive, as Mercy haters are essentially saying that they'd rather play a meta hero in Mercy's main game than a character they have no experience with who knows how to get value.
Unfortunately, because of her addictive movement and being able to survey the battlefield for my team I love playing Mercy, I can't deny her. does Lack of playability. Sure, her hilariously renamed “Barbie Blaster” can be surprisingly effective in one-on-one fights, but in team-fights all she really does is hold a beam at an ally and hope for the best. Mercy needs something more, with the most common suggestion being to make her Flash Heal perk a permanent ability, with another unlockable power filling its place. With a strong new perk and flash heal being a permanent part of her kit, Mercy can have that extra oomph that changes the perception around her and prevents people from insta-banning the character. Sadly, though, I don't see that kind of change coming in the next few weeks.
Mercy's flash heals Overwatch 2 The perk allows him to heal a 150 HP burst on his current beam target, which can come in handy if the opposing team is focusing on a specific teammate.
Why is it impossible to change for the better in the upcoming patch of Daya Season 19
Overwatch 2Mercy has had a rough ride over the last few updates. He received no changes in either the regular game or the stadium in the Season 19 launch update, with no adjustments coming in subsequent minor patches. There was a similar story a month ago. With two very quiet months for Mercy from a gameplay perspective, there's little reason to believe November will be any different. It's a real shame, though, that he needs some proper changes. Then again, this drought might be better than something like what happened in August, when Mercy lost access to her best stadium construction.
Mercy's last non-stadium change also came in August, as this is when the Winged Reach minor perk was traded for Divine Momentum.
While it's true that Crespular Circle was used by almost everyone, it meant that Mercy lacked build variety while Stadium appeared in almost every game, removing it entirely and pushing some less fun builds was a questionable decision. In my eyes, Cressular Circle construction was exactly what compassion required. This gave her constant bursts of combat ability amidst her normal gameplay, as each Ultimate activation boosted allies' damage and healed them while Mercy was free to fly and shoot her enemies. Simply put, it was a lot of fun, and it made Mercy a valuable teammate that character teammates balked at. And while Stadium may have a similar playstyle for Mercy, said style was the complete opposite of her normal gameplay, meaning anyone who plays both main modes. Overwatch 2 Enjoy two very different versions of the same hero.
Since Mercy's stadium change, I've gone from happily grinding on All-Star as soon as I hit Elite to being bored, while in regular competitive matches I'm only able to play her 50% of the time due to an insta-ban from my team. It's not a fun time to be a Mercy Men at the moment, because I either have to turn myself into a character I don't want or trust myself and accept that my teammates will judge me before the game even starts. And even if I play my best, I have to come to terms with the idea that it might not be enough, because I can't fight in Mercy like I can in another support. My team doesn't have to play the weak hero, but the hero shouldn't be so outclassed in the first place. hopefully, Overwatch 2The midseason update will give Mercy some love in nothing but the skin department, though it's hard to be optimistic since Blizzard hasn't changed her in weeks.
