Death Stranding Hideo Kojima and Disney are getting an anime series as revealed. This is the latest Death Stranding Spin-offs that have been announced in recent history.
Death Stranding has presented players with an unusual post-apocalyptic world to explore, and these new adaptations will help flesh out the world and its inhabitants even more. This was announced earlier Death Stranding Will get a movie adaptation, as well as an animated feature. While those projects are still in the works, it looks like the Kojima Productions universe isn't slowing down its expansion.
New Death Stranding anime to stream on Disney+
During the Disney APAC Showcase, Disney announced a new anime series Death Stranding isolation will stream exclusively on Disney+ starting in 2027. Not much has been revealed about the overall plot yet, but it has been confirmed that the series will take place in the same world that players have explored as Sam Bridges.
According to Deadline, the anime will follow Bridges, along with other characters trying to navigate an isolated world. One is described as an old man trying to “feel liberated”, while a female warrior is trying to create a world of constant struggle. A boy and a girl will also be featured, with the boy harboring some sort of grudge against Norman Reedus' character, while the girl is trying to come to terms with her loneliness.
In terms of production, the series will be animated in 2021 by Japanese animation studio, formerly MAPPA and led by E&H Production. Jujutsu Kaisen Director Sunghoo Park. Takayuki Sano, who is a leading animator who worked on anime before Attack on Titan and Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Godswill direct the series, while Hideo Kojima is signed on as an executive producer. Although it's a Japanese anime, director Sano noted that the team will match global talent to make it a global animation project. While the main art promotional image for the series is shown, it is noted that the title is still subject to change.
As mentioned, this is not the only spin-off Death Stranding in works. If all goes according to plan, 2027 will also see a live-action release Death Stranding Film from A24. So far, other animation projects, Death Stranding: MosquitoesThere is no announced release window. However, it received a short teaser trailer, so it's possible that it might reach fans before the other two projects are completed.
