ZA Update 2.0 has removed spawn overload shiny prey

Since its release, Pokemon Legends: ZA players have found ways to increase their chances of finding shiny Pokemon. Some of these methods are legitimate; Some may be bordering on exploitation.

One of the most popular methods, “Spawn Overload” is the root of many brilliant hunting adventures at this point. However, unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and with the release of Pokemon Legends: ZA Version 2.0 and the Mega Dimension DLC, that method has been removed from the game.

Spawn overload is no longer in Shiny Hunt Pokemon Legends: ZA

The “Spawn Overload” shiny hunting method saw players trick Pokemon Legends: ZA into filling up multiple spawn points in the same general location at the same time. This allowed six Alpha Pokémon to spawn under the tower in Wild Zone 20, allowed you to get three Chespins in Wild Zone 17, and allowed you to regularly overload another section of Wild Zone 20 with Charmander and Tepig, among others.

The method survived a few early updates, but as of today, with the release of the Mega Dimension DLC, it no longer is.

Pokemon Legends: ZA's rare shiny has a more than one in three million chance

Good luck getting that, coaches.

This news was first reported by Papa Jefe, a famous YouTuber who has made several guides on how to maximize spawn overloads. These videos were watched tens of thousands of times (including by me), with detailed information on how to overload various sections of Legends: The Map of ZA.

Breaking the news, he said, “Preliminary test results seem to show that span overloading is indeed… patched. Let me know your own test results, but I'm unable to see more spans appearing on Z20, Z17, Turbo Tree, etc. Tried known working methods on Switch 1 and Switch 2 versions.”

In general, the suggestion is not to update your game, leaving it in the previous version. However, the method requires you to exit Legends: ZA several times, the game will update itself. You can always try disconnecting your Nintendo Switch from the Internet to bypass the update, though. Either way, it's a big blow to the glitter hunters.

We recently tested the method; If you already have overloaded areas, even after updating the game, they will remain so. You just won't be able to complete any new overloads.
