The exit points around the map all take a fair amount of time to actually get to. It doesn't matter if it's an elevator or a train; Players still have to hang around and wait for the doors to open, unless they're lucky enough to hang an extra key around to escape through the hatch. Many choose to click a button, hide in a nearby room, then run right back out the second, but this behavior is very predictable and, more importantly, vultures are trying to pick up unwanted extractors. A good way to go about things is to stop for a moment to see if anyone is nearby, just venturing within the point and click on the console when the coast looks perfectly clear.

Because of this, players need to constantly check how much time is left in a match, especially if they spawn later and actually have very little time to loot. More importantly, knowing which extraction points are expiring next can give players a better idea of where to move first and where to end their raid.
There's nothing worse than having an inventory full of great loot and running across the landscape to make it out, assuming the player can make it there in time. A quick glance at the map may be all that's needed to save players a lot of pain, and by planning a specific start and end goal during the game, looting becomes more natural, and moments of panic are minimized when they realize how far away their only safe path is.
