Marvel Rivals It received a Game Award nomination for Best Continuing Title, a testament to how well-supported the live-service game was during its first year of life. It turns out, though, that this first year has been a “warm-up” in recent years Marvel Rivals As developer NetEase, 2026 is hyped by the studio.
until now, Marvel Rivals Only fans know a few things about the future of the hero shooter. Following the huge success of the first, PvE mode Marvel Zombies, NetEase has promised that more co-op content will be coming to the game in the coming years. It's unclear what exactly this content will look like, as it could be more maps full of undead or story-focused missions with new types of enemies to battle, like Hydra and AIM goons. Also, Marvel RivalsWhile the Season 6 heroes are confirmed to be Deadpool and Elsa Bloodstone, their exact roles remain a mystery. Beyond that, future hero additions are less clear.
An introduction to Cyclops was also teased through the cinematic Marvel Rivals Season 5, which focused on Rogue and Gambit's marriage.
While Deadpool continues to switch roles and keep gamers on their toes, NetEase has been directly teasing the future of its game, with executive producer Danny Koo recently speaking with Den of Geek about what's to come. The full extent of the company's “big plans” for 2026 have been kept under wraps, but Koo promised Netizen that it “won't be late,” which makes sense since the studio apparently already has an extra full year mapped out. He also teased one type of content that fans can expect to see more of: new game modes.
Marvel Rivals will focus on giving players more options
According to Koo, a huge success with the aforementioned Marvel Zombies mode and Rivals' An engaging 18v18 experience, Annihilation has influenced NetEase in creating new content for 2026. Essentially, the studio is aware that some players may enjoy more casual, silly, or cooperative experiences, and the studio wants to cater to every type of player going forward. So while new heroes and battle passes will continue to drop, players can expect entire game modes to be added from time to time. And based on both 18v18 and Marvel Zombies, if gamers make their voices heard about any additions they really like, there's a good chance they'll be made permanent.
While the promise of a content-heavy 2026 deserves the hype, there are a lot of things players will want to see outside of more game modes. Common requests include:
-
A big focus on new maps for core game modes, eg Marvel Rivals' Season 5 maps being exclusive to 18v18 and Jeff's Winter Splash made the map pool feel a bit stale.
-
More fun additions Rivals' Times Square Hub, the current-opening and Pimm's Burger has been a big hit with the community. Marvel movie nights and fashion shows are just a few of the many possibilities.
-
More community engagement through turnout activities like the Hellfire Gala. Players feel they can boost morale in the community by balancing the game, adding heroes, and more. At the very least, it can be fun to vote on a hero that gets released for the first time in any given season.
With the vast legacy of Marvel Comics, packing NetEase should be no problem. Marvel Rivals Filled with content for years to come. Whether the studio can actually deliver on its promise and make it out to 2025 remains to be seen, as it's certainly set a high bar for itself, but NetEase's continued pursuit of excellence suggests a bright future ahead.
