As if Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 didn't take home enough awards this season, including Game of the Year at The Game Awards, Sandfall Interactive RPG – another achievement in line for the “most accomplished” game of 2025.
In a new post shared on social media, HowLongToBeat, a popular website used to track and log playthroughs, listed the year's “most accomplished” titles, among other highlights, with Expedition 33 taking the top spot.
In order, the games are:
-
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
-
Hollow Knight: Silksong
-
Donkey Kong Banana
-
Doom: The Dark Ages
-
Dispatch
-
Monster Hunter Wild
-
Mario Kart World
-
Silent Hill f
-
south of midnight
-
Hades 2
On the HowLongToBeat website, 8,000 people have logged in to say they have “Beat” Campaign 33, with another 1,100 or so players actively playing the game.
Of course, much of this list A) accounts for HowLongToBeat and B) is based on players' willingness to actively log their gaming time and status. Still, many people will do all that which speaks volumes for what kind of game Campaign 33 is.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's photo mode might be the best I've ever seen
Sandfall Interactive has added an almost unlimited photo mode to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
On a separate note, it's pretty wild to see a game as punishing as No. 2 ranked Silksong. The fact that Dispatch released its last episode in mid-November and the title finished at number 5 is also a testament to its popularity.
The lists don't stop there, though, as HowLongToBeat has categorized the top games that people have “retired” or given up on.
Delta Force's campaign may have been too much for players to handle
In a separate social media post, HowLongToBeat revealed its top 10 most “retired” games, topped by Persona 5: The Phantom X, a free-to-play spin-off title that drew ire from fans for alleged bias towards the game's Asian servers.
The full list is as follows:
-
Personality 5: The Phantom X
-
Delta Force
-
Where the wind meets
-
Hello Kitty Island Adventure
-
in the ZOI
-
Endless strands
-
Blue Prince
-
Accepted
-
Atomfall
-
Precinct
Delta Force being No. 2 makes a lot of sense when you consider how notoriously difficult the campaign was, with stiff competition in the shooter genre, including the long-awaited revival of Battlefield, which pushed players away.
Overall, it's a great way to help categorize gaming in 2025. Grand Theft Auto 6 must surely be the most “finished” game in 2026, right?
