Pokemon Legends: ZA Mega Evolution is adding Mega Sceptile to the roster on January 7th. However, this Generation 3 Mon's path to Mega Evolution comes with a catch: it's connected to the next season. Pokemon Legends: ZA Rank Wars, so getting it without DLC can be challenging – but far from impossible – in the early days.
At launch, Game Freak's latest RPG offered 70 Mega Evolutions, including a few dozen new ones. While many existing Megas were featured, not everyone's favorite Megas were available in Evolution Pokemon Legends: ZA From day one. However, some were added post-release and are confirmed to follow. Among them was Mega Roop
SeptileGame Freak previously stated that the Mega Stone for this Gen 3 starter will be available in one of the upcoming Ranked Battle seasons. That season is now dated.
Pokemon Legends: ZA is a reminder why Charizard is always getting all the love
Charizard is one of the most beloved of Pokemon's 1000+ creatures and Pokemon Legends: ZA shows exactly why it gets so much attention.

Pokemon Legends: ZA Ranked Battles Season 5 Dates
- get started: January 7, 2026, at 10pm PST / 1pm EST / 4pm CET

How to get Septile in Pokemon Legends: ZA
Added to Sceptile Pokemon Legends: ZA As part of the Mega Dimension DLC, which launched on December 10th. Players who don't own the $29.99 add-on may not encounter it through regular play. DLC owners also need to make some progress with the Hyperspace missions to do so. The DLC quest can be started on top of Hotel Z, which the game will ask players to visit in update version 2.0.0 and later.
Like the previous entries in Pokemon suffrage, Legends: ZA Allows players to trade for DLC creatures without actually owning the DLC they come from. The Mega Sceptile may not be completely out of reach for people on a tight budget like this, but finding a player willing to trade a Sceptile to get it requires some luck and dedication. In that case, dedicated online business communities are a great way to speed up one's search. For example, the r/PokemonTrades subreddit has about 10,000 weekly visitors as of early 2026, while the game's largest Reddit community has more than 224,000 of them, and has been running dedicated trade “megathreads” since October.
Another catch to consider with Sceptile is its current requirement for Mega Stones. Sceptilite will only be available in the upcoming Ranked Battle season, meaning it will be locked after the Nintendo Switch Online subscription. While those start at $3.99 per month for an individual subscription, things do add Between the NSO and the DLC requirement, getting a no-trade Mega Sceptile will cost between $93.97 and $103.97, depending on one's console of choice, as will the Switch 2 version. Pokemon Legends: ZA is more expensive.
Based on previous seasons, it doesn't take more than a few minutes of online play to reach Rank S and earn Sceptilite's Ranked Battles Season 5. Season 5 also rotates the previous Mega Stones as promotion rewards: Greninzite, Delfoxyte, Chesnatite, and Boxcalibrite. It's standard practice for Game Freak at this point, expected to return to Sceptilite Pokemon Legends: ZA in the future. However, getting it still requires participating in ranked battles, which means paying for an NSO membership.
