Arc Raiders' low price is thanks to Helldivers 2

Before Arc Raiders took over the world, overshadowing juggernauts like Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty Black Ops 7 , we had Helldivers 2 . Arrowhead's co-op shooter can be a lot of fun working with other people to bring democracy to bugs, bots and squids. While stability has been an issue with the game, everyone agreed that the $40 price was well worth it. Embark hopes to follow the same trend with Ark Raiders.

Exodus Shooter is currently bigger than most other shooters, and has managed to hold on to its player count unlike any other game. When asked about the $40 price, CEO Patrick Söderlund revealed that the studio followed the same formula as Arrowhead, so the lower price point made sense.

“We discussed when the game went from free-to-play to a traditional business model. We basically looked at games like Helldivers and other games and decided, 'Okay, that's where we have to stay,'” Soderlund said in a chat with GamesBeat's Dean Takahashi (thanks, Eurogamer).

“We made that decision, whether it's right or wrong one can argue. I like the fact that the game is relatively cheap and people can come in and try the game,” he added. Apparently, the player count for the game proved that it was the right decision. The low price also played a big role in bringing more players to the game.

Ark Riders must be nominated for at least this GOTY category

Arc Raiders sound design is excellent, and it's a real shame it didn't get a nod at this year's Game Awards.

“We want people to feel like it's totally worth the $40. I hope that people, no matter how much time they spend on the game, feel like we gave them value for money,” Söderlund continued. “That's where we want to be.” It's clear that the game has been worth $40, as the player count has managed to stay relatively high since launch.

Unfortunately, Helldivers 2 is having a hard time with performance issues breaking the pace of new content drops. One of the latest updates managed to bring the game's size down to just 23GB, which was welcomed by fans, but most players want to fix the bugs and performance issues for now.
