Back in September, we reported on MachineGames' impressive confirmation that a third mainline Wolfenstein under their command is coming… finally. A month later, the internet took notice when it looked like the devs were teasing “Wolfenstein 3”, as we'll call it for lack of an official title, their next big thing.
Today things were spicy. Multiple sources have claimed that Wolfenstein 3 is, in fact, in active development at MachineGames. Fans of their previous efforts in this famous Nazi-shootin' franchise – and there are a lot of us! – Should be happy. We're going back.
Wolfenstein III: The New Evolution
The main claim for today's big thing comes from Jez Corden at Windows Central, who also talked about the existence of a Fallout: New Vegas remaster. That's great, but it's just one source; The Wolfenstein bit, however, is compounded by an article from Kotaku that reports its own insider shaking his head at the matter.
Square Enix won't be happy if you spoil the plot of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, even though it's over a quarter of a century old.
Something – something – something Erith.
With a TV show on Amazon Prime Video, Wolfenstein is already looking hot. According to Corden, MachineGames is also hard at work on some kind of “Rainbow Six Siege-like multiplayer title,” but that hasn't stopped them from aligning the series' invasion with a bold third chapter to streaming.
Details are scarce, of course, and the odds of Bethesda coming out and confirming the existence of Wolfenstein 3 still don't exist. Will we hear about it this year, though? 2026 is in its first week, so yes, there's still plenty of time for that. Regardless, it's good to know it's coming, and we'll be putting more twists on this remarkably-obviously functional shooter in the coming months.
