Arc Raiders details the plans to crack down on the thugs

Days after several streamers and content creators exposed a growing problem of cheats in Ark Raiders, the hugely popular extraction shooter from Embark Studios, its studio has acknowledged the complaints and explained what it will do to combat the epidemic.

As first spotted by GamesRadar , via a post on the game's official Discord server, Embark has confirmed that it is aware that there are ongoing instances of bad actors in its live-service title.

“We've seen discussions around the topic of cheating on ARC Raiders,” said community administrator Osen. “Please know that we are taking this issue very seriously and are listening, and acting on your feedback.”

To address this where the problem lies, “significant changes to our rules” and new detection mechanisms will be implemented, hopefully, to stop fraudsters in their tracks.

“This includes updating our anti-cheat systems for improved detection and sanctions, as well as implementing client-side fixes specifically addressing the 'out of the map' bug,” the outlined changes read. “Additionally, we're introducing tools for streamers to help mitigate stream sniping.”

One thing that GamesRadar notes, and an important element worth noting, is that Embark has not detailed how long these bans will last and whether they will be permanent bans, as is usually the case with other competitive titles.

However, this is the first and most important step in trying to save the game before it gets overrun by bad actors trying to ruin the experience for others.

The cheating epidemic was bad enough that no one considered giving it up

Before things come to a head, a major player threatens to quit over the issue, with several personalities detailing the wider issues affecting the Ark Raiders.

One of the game's biggest champions and massively popular content creator, Shroud, was “ready to quit” on the issue, though they seem to be sticking with the game, having just uploaded a video to their YouTube six days ago.

A few days before that, one of the game's most anticipated events had to be temporarily canceled due to a large number of cheaters. In the infamous Bunker Incident debacle, players were abusing the exploit to teleport through walls, among other things.

Which means, cheating has become prevalent but things have gotten out of hand, so much so that Embark must finally act before it's too late.
