A game or DLC announcement for a well-established franchise is usually good news. Under normal circumstances, it's a win-win: longtime fans get their hands on new content, while shepherding a wave of new players curious enough to try something. Not just Geralt as a playable hero, but Geralt full stop.

A new rumor suggests that CD Projekt Red may be working on a secret project to deliver more DLC content for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
A Witcher 3 DLC this late in the game has me worried about Geralt

He lived in a world that rarely allowed Witchers to do that, and he earned his peace by being stripped of dignity. A late-stage DLC risks reframing that ending. Not as a victory, but as a pause before possible defeat.
And just because of the confirmation that Geralt will be back before you ignore this concern The Witcher 4: Memories are a narrative device that CD Projekt Red has used before in both Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077. If in the role of Geralt The Witcher 4 Flashbacks, memories, or endings as figures already sidelined by injury or age, then this rumored DLC could exist to explain why.
Amazing for Witcher / Potentially Bad for Witcher
For any player, new The Witcher 3 The DLC will be a gift: more writing, more monsters, more time with the character who defined a generation of RPGs. For the franchise, it could provide important narrative glue as CD Projekt Red passes the torch to Siri. For Geralt, though, it means something else entirely.
