Yakuza 3 Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties delisted before release

Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties is released next month, but unfortunately, when it arrives, RGG Studios will remove the original game on Steam.

As explained in X, the only way to purchase Yakuza 3 Remastered will be through the Complete Series Bundle, which includes the entire Kiryu saga from Yakuza 0 to Yakuza 6: The Song of Life.

That means Yakuza 3 will cost $129.13 instead of $19.99, and since the bundle is technically classified as a 'package' on Steam, if you already own any of the included games, you can't buy it. Someone else will have to buy it for you, and you will need to pay full price.

Sega is on a delisting spree

Given the controversy surrounding Kiwami 3 for casting Teruyuki Kagawa, who was accused of sexual harassment by two women in 2019, fans aren't taking the news well: “Don't buy this fu*ing game”, reads one reply.

However, the delisting is unfortunately par for the course with older Sega titles, as the publisher removed everything from Sonic CD and Crazy Taxi to the Sega Genesis Classics collection and Jet Set Radio from digital storefronts just last year.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 preview: RGG Studios let it cook, and it was worth the wait

Waiting this long to introduce another Kiwami title in the Yakuza series was the right move.

Worryingly, when Yakuza 0 was delisted, it was replaced by the Director's Cut in the package. RGG claims that the original Yakuza 3 – or at least, the remastered version – will remain in this bundle, but the team has already set a precedent for replacing games within the collection with newer versions.

If you missed it before it was gone for good, and don't want to spend $129 on the bundle, Yakuza 3 Remastered is thankfully still available on GOG.
