A reliable gaming insider has backed up the Rayman Legends remake rumors and suggested that another Rayman game in development will be released “very, very soon.”
Ubisoft's recent restructuring, which canceled Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and several other games, sent Ramon fans into a bit of a frenzy. The series already seems to be a low priority for Ubisoft compared to giants like Far Cry and Assassin's Creed, with many of us fearing that Vegeta Thingamazig's next game might not see the light of day.
That doesn't seem to be the case, though, as several insiders have actually shared some interesting information about the two rumored Rayman projects. One of them is apparently some sort of Rayman Legends remake (don't even get me started on how weird that is), but the other still remains a bit of a mystery, aside from some information an insider recently shared.
The next Rayman game is apparently coming “very, very soon.”
It seems to be tied to his anniversary
As pointed out by Twitter user Shamaboy11, Insider Gaming recently released a new episode of its podcast, Insider Gaming Weekly, where the team talked about the current state of Ubisoft. During the podcast, a viewer asked Insider Gaming Editor in Chief Tom Henderson about two rumored Rayman games, codenamed Iceman and Steamboat.
My remake for Rayman 2 would be worth breaking the rules
Despite my general distaste for remakes, I'm willing to make an exception for Rayman 2.
Henderson responded by backing up recent rumors that Steamboat is a remake of Rayman Legends, but noted that another game, Iceman, is scheduled to be released first. In fact, Iceman is apparently going to launch “very, very soon” as it apparently ties in with Rayman's anniversary, which means it could be September.
Iceman is going to be released before that, and very soon. There is a certain anniversary for the game coming up for the game so you can put two and two together with that. – Tom Henderson
It's unclear exactly what Iceman is from Henderson's comments, but if I had to guess, it's some sort of anniversary release, possibly of the first three games in the series. Considering how recently the Rayman projects started development, I find it hard to believe that any sort of new game will be ready to go this year, with some sort of re-release seeming more likely.
That's just speculation on my end, though, Iceman could actually be anything made to celebrate Rayman's anniversary. We'll have to wait and see what Ubisoft announces, which looks like it's going to happen soon if the project is tied for 2026.
