Goku's English dub voice actor, Sean Schimmel, shared his live reaction to the announcement of the new Dragon Ball Super anime, and he was just as surprised as the rest of us.
For the past few months, Dragon Ball fans have been hanging on to yesterday's Genkidamatsuri festival in hopes that the future of the franchise would finally be revealed. It's been a long time since Dragon Ball had any kind of new anime project, so everyone was praying that something big would be revealed.
You no doubt know by now, exactly what was going on. One of the main announcements at the show was that the Dragon Ball Super anime is finally coming back, and it's going to adapt the Galactic Patrol arc from the manga, like literally everyone has been asking for. This came as quite a surprise, even to those deeply involved with the series.
Goku's voice actor had the best reaction in Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol
At least, until he remembers all he has to do is scream
As pointed out by Twitter user DbsHype, Goku's voice actor in the English dub of Dragon Ball Z, Sean Schemmel, went live on Twitch yesterday to share his reactions to the massive Genkidamatsuri stream. As the stream teased something new by going through recent movies, Schemmel bet they were about to “announce a movie.”
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's Daima DLC Part 1 is good, but you're better off waiting for the full thing
Kakarot's Daima expansion is one of its most unique and interesting, but is let down by how short it is.
Then, after the stream finally confirmed that Dragon Ball Super is returning with a Galactic Patrol arc, Schemmel let out a big squeal of surprise even as he called the incredibly long “holy s**t” over the big news. From there, Schimmel seemed a little lost for words, which I think was true for every Dragon Ball fan who didn't expect to see the arc adapted.
Of course, there is one chance That Schimmel had some idea about the future of Dragon Ball, but his surprised reaction seems very genuine. Considering how early the new super anime is in production and how far along the English dub is, I'm choosing to believe that Schimmel discovered the good news at exactly the same time as the rest of us. Good luck with those rants against Moro.
