To open the door above the blacksmith, you need to complete the Putrid Paradise myth Neoh 3. This is a side quest set in the Heian Era, where a warrior finds himself in a swamp-like area and needs the players' help.
Once you're done, return to the small cave below the blacksmith to find Tatsumaro.
Offer him some dung balls, and he'll give you the Smithing Texts as well as a key to open the door above the blacksmith. Inside are two chests, full of tools.
Putrid Paradise myth guide in Nioh 3
To trigger the Putrid Paradise myth Neoh 3Rajomon: Start in Hachizo near the Mibu Avenue Shrine and go into the swamp to find Tatsumaro on a roof. He wants to remove the stench from his body, so players can guide him to the hot spring by following the quest mark on the map. While resting, Tatsumaro reveals that there is a wonderful bath near his house, but he can't get there because there are too many yōkai. If you agree to help him, he will let you use the wonderful bath as a reward.
When Tatsumaro joins the fight at your side, head to the laser crucible located deep within the swamp and defeat the waves of enemies to finally remove it.
