Yakuza Kiwami 3 features a friend feature, similar to that of Infinite Wealth and Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii if you’ve played those, but this time around it’s tied to your cell phone. Once Kiryu gets his new phone, he can then connect with other people in Downtown Ryukyu and Kamurocho and befriend them.

How To Find And Befriend NPCs

As you walk around Kamurocho and Downtown Rykyu, you’ll see NPCs with the LaLaLa heart and gauge icon above their heads. Go into search mode LT/R and then press R2/Up to interact and connect with them.

When you first connect with them, you’ll become LaLaLa Friends. After some time has passed, you can connect with them again, and if you do it three times and fully fill the gauge, you will become LaLaLa Lovelies with them. Reaching this level means the app will reveal more information about your friends.

The map will refresh when you move far away from an area, but if you want to force respawn a smaller section, exiting the map from one area to the next (such as from the Millenium Tower to Kamurocho or the Public Market to Downtown Ryukyu) or fast travelling will refresh the map and the NPCs available.

If you’re struggling to hunt everyone down, Lala will give you the Romance Amulet phone accessory once you have 35 friends, which will show LaLaLa phone users on the map when equipped.
