While PlayStation Plus While there have been several impressive months over the years, it's hard to argue against the idea that it's been a bit all over the place as of late. Both the January and February 2026 PS Plus Essential games missed the mark for many players. Either focused genres were a bit too niche like jet-focused Ace Battle 7 and family-friendly Epic Mickey: RebrushedOr sports were critically panned, such as a boxing title indisputable. This rocky start to the year for Essential customers is only more disappointing when coupled with the consistently disappointing PS Plus Premium, creating a rough era for the overall service where extras are regularly left as PS Plus's saving grace.
While PS Plus has struggled to keep its default tier attractive as of late, and PS Plus Premium add-ons have been few and far between for more than six months now, Extra has consistently earned the support of its customers with top-notch add-ons each month. Even with the other two tiers rising above, PS Plus Extra is there to catch them when they fall, as there are at least two high-profile game extras dropping monthly. These additions come with a variety of indies, ensuring that those looking for some deep cuts on a regular basis have a chance to discover potential gems. As always, the PlayStation Plus Extra looks ready to deliver with its February 2026 lineup, but there comes a point where one has to wonder if the other layers will finally take some of the weight off its shoulders.
PS Plus Extra costs $15 a month and $135 a year. By comparison, Essential costs $10 a month and $80 a year, while PS Plus Premium's price tag comes in at $18 monthly and $160 annually.

The headliner for this month's PlayStation Plus Extra is obviously Insomnia Marvel's Spider-Man 2And it cannot be overstated how important this emphasis is. Not only is it a stellar game that takes full advantage of the PS5's technology to deliver thrilling webswinging, two unique protagonists, and a beautiful version of New York City, but with this addition, the entire Marvel's Spider-Man The series is playable via PS Plus Extra. beyond Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Neva and Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown Extras are coming in February as well. East is a gorgeous puzzle-platformer from the developers of Sam Sundar GreeceSpinning an emotional story about a woman and her wolf as they cross a dying world. with an 87 on Metacritic (down just three points Marvel's Spider-Man 2's 90), PS Plus Extra members are getting two popular stories to play in February. for the Test Drive Unlimited Solar CrownIt trades critical acclaim for online gameplay and a breathtaking open world for players to race through. It won't be for everyone given its difficult progression and fairly bland vehicle lineup, but despite its mixed reviews, its focus on multiplayer should provide some variety alongside these two single-player heavy hitters.
Adding to this sense of variety are the remaining PS Plus extra games for February 2026, which span a variety of genres. Turn based Monster hunter stories and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Destruction Put a cute spin on Capcom's creature-filled series, Season: A Letter to the Future tells an atmospheric story, Venba All about cooking, and Echoes of the End: Enhanced Edition is a third-person adventure game with fun grain combat. If that wasn't enough, there's more Rugby 25 For sports enthusiasts, giving everyone something to look forward to this month. And although all these newly announced PS Plus titles should keep gamers busy, the one-two punch of an expensive blockbuster Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and engaging, story-driven adventures Neva Extra's high reputation is a combination fitting.
While it's great that PS Plus Extra is about to offer its customers another great lineup of games, rolling out February for the service, it's disappointing that it has to keep playing Hero to begin with. Premium members are constantly left scratching their heads and wondering why they're getting so little despite paying the most, especially when there are still so many beloved PlayStation games that deserve a place in the classics catalog (Wall-E is the only game to be added to the Classics catalog in February, and it seems like an odd choice). Then there are the essential users, who have not only gone without an exciting month for a while, but are waiting for the next shoe to drop when it comes to PS Plus, ending the PS4 addition. While PS Plus Extra is undoubtedly good, it's time for the other tiers to stop mocking its success and become equally compelling alternatives.
