Season 7 of ZA is already the worst (and I'm talking franchise-wide).

Pokemon Legends: ZA It's been my comfort game since it came out, and while it's far from perfect, I still enjoy it for a number of reasons. One of them is shiny hunting, probably the head of the bunch, as I was able to get shiny Latios, Latias, Cobalion, Virizion and Terrakion for the first time in my history with the franchise. Pokemon Legends: ZAThe ranked battles are nothing to scoff at, though, and I've loved the ladder ranking in real-time games with more accessible training options since launch. However, season 7 is officially here, and it's one of the worst things I've ever experienced. Pokemon.

One might argue Pokemon Legends: ZAThe approach of battles is not suitable for VGC. However, the game still has an active competitive scene, with users regularly hosting tournaments. This is very different from normal competition PokemonHowever, battles are not only real-time rather than turn-based, but teams are made up of three Pokémon each and have different rules than the official rules. Pokemon Scarlet and PurpleFor example. Unfortunately, Season 7 may have the worst rules I've seen in the franchise at large, and it can only get worse from here.

Pokemon Legends: ZA Home Support gets an update

The new season of Pokemon Legends: ZA just started as news surfaced about its Pokemon Home compatibility, and things could be even better on Pokemon Day.

Pokemon Legends: ZA breaks the rules of building a giant competitive team

If you need rewards, like all kinds of special Poke Balls, Poke Dollars, and so on, then play Ranked Battles. Legends: ZA It's worth a lot. Even more so, if you are looking to get exclusive Mega Stones Pokemon Legends: ZAIncluding Blaziken's, which is available for the first time in Season 7. At the same time, the competitive meta is now very frustrating and very similar, as the ruleset not only enables all critters in the Pokedex, but also allows everyone to use the two restricted Pokemon. These are:

  • Xerneas

  • Yveltal

  • Zygarde

  • Mewtwo

  • Kyogre

  • Groudon

  • Requaza

in Pokemon Legends: ZAAs of Season 6, these were limited to one per team, which made selection more difficult, as the best choices still depended on the team's composition and what other players used. The ruleset still allowed players to use up to three legendary or legendary Pokémon at once, but was limited to only the strongest per team in the game. Even though Xerneas and Kyogre dominate most games, teams can be made to face them and still have fun.

My best team in Pokemon Legends: ZA last season was Overqwil, Rotom Mow, and Swampert. In Season 7, I still use Overqwil and Rotom Mow to counter Xerneas, Mewtwo, Kyogre, and Groudon.

How Legends: ZA's Banned Pokemon Ruined The Game

Now, however, each team can field up to three Legendary and Mythical Pokemon Legends: ZA Also using two restricted mons, that usually translates to very strange and repetitive team compositions, all using combinations of Xerneas, Mewtwo, Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza, with side mons like Genesect, Darkrai, Magearna, etc. This is the first time where you can use the full team of Legenum. Two banned Pokemon are involved, and the result is pretty terrible. You can still try not to use legendaries and legendaries, but fun, creative sets like Focus Energy + Scope Lens Kangaskhan with spamming Life Orb, Focus Sash, and expert belts on OP Pokemon like Xerneas and Kyogre are very hard to beat.

  • As with Mega Rayquaza, Rayquaza is almost an auto-include in most teams Legends: ZA Mega Evolve doesn't require any held items, so it can easily use Focus Sash to make it more durable.

  • Geomancy Xerneas with Life Orb can take out a lot of meta threats without a critical hit, and it's very durable.

  • Kyogre has access to its primal version, but the base form remains an amazing choice due to its massive move coverage and incredible stats.

  • Groudon has become one of the most used Ground-type Pokémon, to the point that Garchomp is rarely seen.

I never thought there would be a time when I would miss the Garchamp meta Pokemon Legends: ZAAnd yet, here we are. I rarely see ice-type pokemon now, as Rayquaza is mostly sashed, so using ice-types to break its sash shouldn't be of much benefit. Any trick will do. Most of all, though, I really hate how the game is now devoid of many “standard” Pokemon, as their meta status has declined, and banned Pokemon are everywhere. Season 8 could be even worse, perhaps allowing any number of banned Pokemon, but that remains to be seen. Still, Season 7 is the lowest point in the franchise for Competitive, allowing players to often forget about even regular Pokemon, and become a stale battle of legends.
