Nioh 3 has only been out for two weeks, but fans have apparently broken its combat mechanics because someone beat the final boss in one hit on New Game Plus.
Despite what most of the fanbase thinks, Nioh 3 is very tough and has more than its fair share of challenging boss battles. Of course, none of them reach the depressing heights of Nioh 2's bosses, but none of them are cakewalks, and they're bound to take you a few tries.
Take the final boss of the game, Hiruko, as an example. Even after 80 hours of Nioh 3, Hiruko still gave me a lot of trouble and it took some effort to survive and see the end of the game. I don't feel like a fool anymore because a player somehow managed to crack Nioh 3's combat and defeat the final boss in just one hit.
Nioh 3 player puts me to shame by beating the final boss in one strike
And if that wasn't enough, it's a new game plus and all
Over on the Nioh subreddit, Redditor Vikaluka shared a video of himself playing against the game's final boss, Hiruko. As you can see from the length of the clip, though, this is no ordinary boss run, as Vikaluka somehow manages to get there, land a powerful ax attack, and then defeat Hiruko in a single attack.
Nioh 3 is a brutal new peak for the series
Nioh 3's open levels, new ninja form, and tougher combat cement it as the best game in the series.
If, like me, you're wondering how this is possible, Vikaluka has a few tricks up its sleeve. Before the battle begins, they are shown using several different talismans, which I can only imagine make a hit really count to make their strength as high as possible. The player appears to leave the gear slots empty to receive the damage bonus.
If that wasn't enough, the clip shows that Vikaluka is level 250, well beyond the recommended level of 211 for the final boss. In my time with Nioh 3, being only a few levels into what the game suggests is enough to make some of the better bosses much easier than intended, so the extra 39 levels are sure to power you up incredibly.
Even with that understanding, it's a little wild to see such a tough boss taken down in one hit like a total chump. As Redditor Bet_Geaned puts it, “It's the kind of thing that makes me feel like I'm building a game that's just what I want”.
I can understand remaking the original God of War, but the entire trilogy feels like overkill
Sony Santa Monica has confirmed that it will remake the three legendary God of War titles.
