Dragon Ball There are some famous techniques in anime. Not only Kamehameha. Vegeta's Big Bang Attack, Piccolo's Special Beam Cannon, Frieza's Death Beam, the list goes on. All of these attacks have catchy names to go along with powerful effects. But what about techniques that fall flat?
There's a lot of good-sounding technology in the series that, when you think about it, isn't all that good. The names may make them strong, but when you compare them to the most effective attacks in the series, these interesting techniques fall flat.
Dragon Ball: 7 Techniques Stronger Than Vegeta's Ultimate Flash
Vegeta's ultimate flash is quite strong, but these techniques are strong.
Devilmite ray
Maybe if a character like Piccolo had come up with this trick, it would have been stronger than it is. Finally, Spike the Devil Man's Devilmite Beam sounds dangerous, but comes with a big caveat that made it useless once we saw it in the series.
Spike Fortuneteller is one of Baba's fighters and confronts Goku when he and the gang set out to defeat Baba's fighters to learn the location of the Dragon Ball in the original series. Devilmite Beam is supposed to use an opponent's negative thoughts and emotions against them, but when used against pure-hearted or well-balanced characters like Goku, it is completely ineffective.
Flame bullet

The Saiyans may be a warrior race, but compared to the other characters introduced throughout the series, most of them were nothing special. Sure, they could handle most of their targets when attacking planets, but the average Saiyan has long been surpassed in power, even by characters like Krillin and Tien.
Tora's Flame Bullet has a cool name, and while it was enough to burn and defeat an already-damaged Tolo, you have to imagine that a fairly unrelenting energy wave from a low-class Saiyan wouldn't do much damage against more capable fighters, especially other members of Frieza's force.

Crash Launcher
Spopovich might look dangerous, but that was about it. He wasn't really a threat or challenge to any of the Z-Fighters, only being able to subdue Gohan with the intervention of the Supreme Kai. Even though Babidi's magic allows him to push far beyond his limits, he is no more than a grunt-level fighter.

Thanks to Babidi's magic, Spopovich is able to use ki blasts and uses a technique called the Crash Launcher against Videl in the anime. While this is effective against someone who is not used to fighting energy waves, it is ultimately just a regular energy wave.
Mystic flasher
Nel was the strongest native Namekian during the Frieza saga, and while he was shown to be a brave, resilient fighter, his fate ended when he and Frieza crossed paths. Although skilled in his own right, Nel was too weak for Frieza to take seriously, there was a huge difference in both of their power levels.
Nel used his Mystic Flasher to stall for time against Frieza while Dende began giving Gohan and Krillin the password to the Namekian Dragon Ball. Although he tried to stun Frieza with an explosion, it didn't even leave a scratch on the space dictator. Maybe it would have worked better on one of the Frieza Force grunts, but from what we saw, it had no effect.
Double Sunday
Some fans still wonder what could have happened to Raditz. As Goku's brother, there are those who believe that he could be brought back into the story somehow, but the series has long since passed on him. During his encounters with Goku and Piccolo on Earth he seemed like a formidable villain, but we soon learned that he was quite weak, even early on. Z anti
Double Sunday is a catchy enough name for the attack, and while it did do some damage to Piccolo during their battle, it's not really anything special compared to other Saiyan techniques. Maybe Raditz could have improved it if he had lived and trained more, but as it stands, Double Sunday is just another energy wave that didn't do much.
Wolf Fang Fist
Yamcha had the worst drop-off in Dragon Ball, going from a useful ally to a minor support character, and later rendered completely irrelevant when it came to fighting. Yamcha has some interesting moves, but the one that always stands out is his Wolf Fang Fist.
It was actually quite effective in the early series, but looking at it now, it's nowhere close to doing much damage to the series' villains. Z in front Melee attacks are often overshadowed by more powerful ki-based attacks like energy waves and fields. Wolf Fang Fist certainly has the best names in the series, but it's a safe bet that it won't win anyone any battles.
Max Buster
As one of Frieza's right-hand men, Dodoria was one of the biggest obstacles Krillin, Gohan, and Vegeta had to face at the beginning of the Frieza saga. He may have started out as a fearsome villain, but it didn't take long for him to be outclassed and defeated by Vegeta.
Dodoria's max buster is a giant energy wave that seems to do a lot of damage. But when he used it against Dende, Gohan and Krillin, all three were able to dodge it. He used it again against Vegeta with the same result. It can do some damage where it lands, but Dodoria doesn't seem to take a hit with it.
