One of the joys of doing extensive research into games is discovering indie gems you didn't know existed, and I just found one. Steam That I can't stop thinking about. After a deep dive into the name game Eastshed By Eastshade Studios, I came across a farm life sim from the same developer that is essentially a hodgepodge. Stardew Valley and Hogwarts LegacyComplete with an incredibly attractive art style, a fantasy setting where magic does the heavy lifting, and high caliber voice acting as well. It's one of those games that I know I'll be playing as soon as it comes out, and I'm so ready for it that I'm almost willing to embrace any problems, technical or otherwise, that might come with it.
Songs of Glimmerwick Coming to Steam is an open-world farm life sim that takes the idea of enrolling in a magical school and puts it within a game format. Stardew Valley. I know I am not alone in my love StardewBecause of how it captured the core gameplay of the genre it is one of the most popular indie games on the market. harvest moon Helped the pioneer and many later entries added a gradually disappearing heart. As such, I'm always on the lookout for another game like this, and ideas Hogwarts Legacy One of those games that I can go back and play for the first time, Songs of Glimmerwick Naturally is on my radar. Now all that is left is to wait.
The songs of Glimmerwick keep the Hogwarts legacy under a cozy, Stardew Valley-shaped blanket.
I like to say almost Songs of Glimmerwick as is Stardew Valley meets Hogwarts Legacy It doesn't do it justice, though, because while it takes some ideas from both of those games, it puts unique twists on their formulas that I'm sure you won't find in many other places. Yes, players go to a magic school, they run a farm to some extent, and there are many activities in the game world that are similar that players can find in both. Stardew Valley and Hogwarts Legacy. but, Songs of Glimmerwick It has its own art style and is one of the most creative concepts for a magic system I've seen in a game, potentially allowing it to stand out from the rest of the title. WitchbrookFor example – which actually looks like “Stardew Legacy”.

Glimmerwick's standout feature is its magic system
The most notable feature of Songs of Glimmerwick Of course it's a music-based magic system. In the world of Glimmerwick, witches use magic to cast spells instead of just wands, giving spellcasting an even more distinct flavor than other games that feature it. It's not just the fact that its magic system is fundamentally rooted in music that makes it stand out, though. Rather, how magic is used to perform tasks in the game, including gardening.
While Stardew ValleyFarming requires players to do most of the work manually, Songs of Glimmerwick Gives spells to players who may prefer to do all the work with the tools themselves. In this game it is also possible to summon rain clouds that will water the garden, instead of using a watering can in other farm life sim games. Aside from the gardening aspect of the game, players can use magic to perform tasks such as speaking to trees or frogs and overcoming otherwise impassable obstacles while exploring the open world.
Glimmerwick's songs give voice to the heart of Stardew Valley
One of the biggest reasons Stardew Valley The reason Pelican Town and its residents feel alive and like a place and people you really want to know is what makes Pelican Town such a cute farm life sim. Character interactions in the game feel so deep and real that emotional connections can be established without characters having real voices. however, Songs of Glimmerwick Could be a one-up Stardew Valley Here, not only are the characters perfectly voiced, but based on what was shown in the trailer, the performances are excellent.
Of course, there are those out there who think that voice acting can ruin a game, because it ultimately depends on the context. However, it fits the argument perfectly Songs of Glimmerwickmold of Instead of being primarily a farming life sim, Glimmerwick is a story-driven RPG experience that feels like its farm-life gameplay loop is on the side rather than the core focus. Within that framework, voice acting is more important, even if it's done well, because a bad performance can be more distracting than anything else. but again, Songs of Glimmerwick Looks like that part is nailed.
In March 2024, developer Eastshade Studios noted on Steam that there were already 100 unique characters. Songs of Glimmerwick “And getting up,” and that “many of them are dynamic with the schedule and some even change their attire on occasion.”
Songs from Glimmerwick is currently without a release date, but I hope it arrives soon
For one it is all as surprising as it sounds Stardew Valley and Hogwarts Legacy A fan like me though, Songs of Glimmerwick Currently without a release date. I wish it was coming out tomorrow, because I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since I discovered it. Unfortunately, I may have to wait longer than I'd like, although I'm not going to stop waiting at this point. I'm already sold Songs of GlimmerwickAnd I've only seen a glimpse of it. And, after learning more about it, maybe you are too.
There is still hope though. Eastshade Studios released a reveal trailer for the game 4 years ago, so it's possible that the launch could be sooner rather than later. The developer's last devlog was also published on Steam in March 2025, and if there patterns persist, the next devlog could be this March as well. And yet Songs of GlimmerwickThe development is taking a long time, they are apparently working with a small team, so it is understandable. Finally, a reply to a fan's Steam discussion post in December 2025 confirmed that development was continuing and that there would be a demo before the game's 1.0 launch. Here's hoping that comes soon, because I'm dying to play this game.
