One piece quietly teases a secret connection between Shanks and Boa Hancock (and fans totally missed it).

In the last saga of a pieceFans have been waiting for some characters to run and establish their presence in the story, and this includes the likes of Shanks and Boa Hancock. with a piece Volume 114 has just been released, with author Eiichiro Oda establishing an interesting connection between these two characters. On the surface, Shanks and Boa Hancock have absolutely nothing in common, aside from the fact that they are deeply connected to Luffy. However, a very strong connection between the two emerges, and this ties in with the big revelation about Shanks' mother, Magnolia.

Shanks' mother may have been connected to the Kuja tribe

a piece Volume 114 SBS is officially out, and in it, Oda has revealed a lot of exciting information as always. One of the most important parts that Oda touched on in this SBS had to do with Shanks' mother. In the manga, Oda showed Shanks' mother in the Valley of the Gods, where she gave birth to both Shanks and Shamrock. During the Lord's Valley event, she was finally killed by Saint Garling, but before she died she gave both of her children to the dragon.

Surprisingly, Oda never showed his face to fans, and only the fact that his hair was red was revealed. His name was also kept secret until now. In One Piece Volume 114 SBS, Oda confirms that her name is Magnolia. On the surface, it seems like a completely generic name, but looking at it on a deeper level, Magnolia is definitely a name inspired by a specific tree shrub that bears a special flower that goes by the same name.

In the world of One Piece, names associated with flowers are often associated with the Kuja tribe. For example, the boa hancock, boa sandersonia, boa marigold, shakuyaku, gloriosa, and even the lily are all directly connected to kuza in some way. Magnolia, in that sense, is likely connected to them as well, especially considering the fact that Oda decided to hide her face. It is through this connection that fans discover many details about Shanks' powerful hockey, and things suddenly start to make sense.

Shanks' Kuza connection explains his Haki powers

In the world of One Piece, Kujas are naturally known for being possessive Incredibly powerful Haki. In fact, all members of the Kuja tribe value strength above all else, and they all possess great Haki power. Even normal Kuja citizens have the ability to use strong Haki, and it comes naturally to them for some reason. As such, among the Kujas, the strongest, Boa Hancock, has all three types of heavy hockey.

Luffy in many forms

One Piece: All forms of Luffy, ranked by design

Luffy acquired a number of powerful forms that came in all sorts of strange shapes and sizes, some looking much better than others.

Even before the timeskip, the Hancock sisters could use advanced forms of Haki, like Ryo, and potentially even the ability to read complex moves. Now that the relationship between Kuza and Shanks has been established through Magnolia, it makes a lot of sense why Shanks is Haki's master. Given Kuza's natural affinity for this power, Shanks could have gotten his incredible hockey skills directly from this particular tribe of the One Piece world. Those with Kuza's blood will have a natural affinity for high-level Haki, and Shanks has clearly shown incredible mastery of this power, greater than anyone else in the world of One Piece. It can be directly linked to Kuza, and essentially Boa Hancock. Shanks and Boa Hancock could carry the same blood, making them incredibly powerful winners and pushing their hockey to an extremely high level.

Oda will flesh out Shanks' mother in more detail later

If Shanks' mother really is Kuza, Oda will definitely go out of her way to take her out later in the line. This is because Kuja Island, in particular, is known to give birth to women.

  • However, it is also implied that they may bear sons, because Kuja is an island of women, and this means that if they ever bear sons, these children will be abandoned on a completely different island.

Viewed in this way, it makes sense why Magnolia stayed in God's Valley. Perhaps, she gave birth to two sons instead of daughters, and thus the Amazon was unwilling to return to Lily because men are not allowed on that island. If Magnolia decides to raise the children in God Valley, then everything starts to make perfect sense. In fact, Oda can even establish a relationship between Magnolia and Boa Hancock, depending on how he wants to progress the story. The Final Saga is definitely going to shed a lot of light on Magnolia, as well as the Kuja tribe, and fans should keep an eye out for that.
