Street Fighter sets Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns apart, reveals WWE champ

For a while now, the cast of the upcoming Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat live-action movies have been taking shots at each other, either on stage at The Game Awards, or in interviews ahead of the movies' scheduled release dates. It's the exact kind of real-life beef that makes the leads of both movies a little more interesting.

It turns out, however, that the beef isn't limited to opposing movie sets. no Because, at least in the words of WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, he and Roman Reigns have some real issues too. Problems that seem to prevent Guile (Rhodes) and Akuma (Rance) from interacting with each other on set.

In a recent appearance on Chris Van Vleet's In-Depth Interview show, Rhodes revealed that things are a bit cold between him and Reigns, long after the pair settled their televised issues in the wrestling ring at WrestleMania.

Ragdoll Physics is the best thing to happen to WWE 2K in decades

WWE 2K26 is hilariously violent in the most video game way.

“I think they thought we were going to fight or have problems for real because they were so familiar with our radios. [and saying]'With Guile going out, Akuma is coming in,'” Rhodes said (thanks to IGN for the transcript). “They were very aware that we weren't going to cross paths. And we did, because I had to give him directions to a trailer, and that was our only moment, and it was very awkward.”

It could all end up being an elaborate trick

It is unclear if there was any single moment that led the superstars to continue to have problems with each other. The two headlined the main events of WrestleMania against each other, and in the lead up to those events, took shots at each other's abilities, families, and skill sets.

“It's a crazy relationship,” Rhodes said. “I have nothing but admiration for what he's done and accomplished, but I don't know what it is. I don't even like talking about it because I don't know what it is. It's just a very strange relationship.”

Street Fighter was filmed long after their in-ring feud was over, so it's not like they had to be separated to keep the kayfabe, or the cameras were around to show the in-ring magic alive.

There's also a really good chance that this is all just speculation on Rhodes' part. Wrestlers are almost always in character, and as honest as the interviews on Van Vleet's show are, Rhodes might embellish things to make it seem like the two aren't on good terms should their feud resume.

In other words, good wrestlers lie, and they lie a lot. Rhodes is no exception.

However, if there is a real beef, it's a shame it might not lead to an in-film fight between Guile and Akuma. I mean, isn't that the whole point of Street Fighter?
