Reputed leaker Dusk Golem – who first reported that Leon Kennedy would be a playable character in Resident Evil Requiem – has revealed new details on the rumored Code Veronica remake which he claims will launch next year.
In a thread posted on X earlier today, he claimed that nothing would be cut from the remake, but that it would be a “heavily remixed” version of the original game. “I hear it's a remake with a lot of things changed or happening differently than you remember,” he said. “But every enemy, location, major event, is there and greatly expanded.”
Chris Redfield will reportedly fight Wesker in the Code Veronica remake
According to Dusk Golem, the Code Veronica remake will focus on Claire Redfield, cementing her as the main character “even more than the original”. To that end, the Chris portion of the game will reportedly end before the original, focusing on Claire for the finale.
Claire received similar attention in the RE:2 remake, and in the upcoming Code Veronica remake they made Claire the main character.
“Capcom realized that Chris's first appearance as his younger self in the RE Engine remake, some people want to see that, so Chris is not a small part of the game and is expanded, as is Claire,” he explained. “And Chris's stuff is ending before the original game, having his own final boss fight (now as a boss fight instead of a cutscene) with Wesker much earlier in the story, getting seriously injured, leaving Claire to take on the final part and Alexia for the final boss.”
According to Dusk Golem, “mainly because the HCF remake expands on a major plot point” and some have even speculated that the armed soldiers in Requiem are laying the groundwork for Code Veronica, as Spider-Boss allegedly did.
Dusk Golem previously claimed that Capcom will announce a Code Veronica remake later this year ahead of its launch in the first half of 2027, so we should find out more concrete details soon.
