TAIPEI: Typhoon Gamey moved overnight through Taiwan toward eastern China on Thursday, leaving two people dead as heavy rains and powerful gusts lashed the island in its wake. Earlier in the day, the typhoon forced Taiwan to cancel some of its annual war games, close schools and offices and evacuate thousands from high-risk, landslide-prone areas.
