Border 4 The developers have been talking about their experience working on the game six months later, and have admitted that it has been “a bit stressful”. A good part of the cause of stress is due to long-standing problems Border 4 It's on PC.
Border 4 Originally launched back in September 2025, but with development teams releasing patches and new content, the game has never been completely stable. The latter of these is Border 4 DLC Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, which adds a new story, a new Vault Hunter, and the level cap from 50 to 60. However, if the game has performance issues for a portion of the playerbase it means nothing, which means the team is also working hard to fix the issues.
Each change is coming to Borderlands 4 on March 26
Borderlands 4 is getting some major changes on March 26, with the release of Story Pack 1 and the free Major Update 1.5 set to overhaul the game.
The Borderlands 4 team discusses development stress
In conversations between IGN and members Border 4 Eli Luna, the team's managing producer, admitted that the team was going through some stress trying to get everything done. Specifically, Luna pointed out that “nothing is done on an assembly line” and that the team had to balance introducing new content while streamlining the game's performance. According to Luna, everyone on the team works simultaneously, which means balancing all the moving parts can be challenging. They added that they think the team has done a “good job of taking feedback” and doing what they can to address it.

Luna also notes the improvements the game has seen, especially with the most recent ones Border 4 patch. In all, they note a 20% increase in FPS “over our rec spec,” but the team isn't done yet. They noted that there is a lot of work to be done that they will be working on for the rest of the year as well as new material. Overall, though, they seem to be pushing it forward, noting that it's “part of the challenge of game development” and that it's been a lot, even fun.
The developer also added that part of the problems the game faced at launch was due to it being a large, seamless world, and a four-player co-op game on top of that. Applying traditional fields may have helped the game perform better, but its huge range Border 4 At the same time that's part of its appeal. The team is still keeping performance in mind going forward with new content, and is trying not to abandon players using PCs that meet the minimum system requirements or recommended levels. However, they also don't want to wait too long to put content out, saying they don't want to “hold the whole thing back because of some aspects.”
From the sounds of it, even after improving base performance on gaming PCs, the team still has a lot of work to do to ensure the game stays in solid playable condition while adding new features. It's probably refreshing and reassuring for PC gamers to hear the effort being put in, especially after initial complaints in the form of negative reviews largely shut down. Border 4Launch by Randy Pitchford, who suggested that the lack of official customer support requests indicates that complaints are overblown.
The most recent update for Border 4 The game's performance has improved significantly, with Gearbox having fewer stutters, a higher average frame rate, and game crashes dropping to half of what it was by the end of 2025. Weekly patches and monthly updates Border 4 It will continue to roll out for the rest of 2026, which could help further improve the experience for those who initially had issues with the game.
