In the Elbaf arc of One Piece, Roronoa Zoro finally discovered that he had access to the Conqueror's Haki, and it was thanks to the Pirate King's left-hand man, Scoper Gaban. It was Gaban who told Zoro that he had access to the Conqueror's Haki and was actually quite unique in using it very well. However, much to his surprise, Zoro didn't know he had this Haki in the first place. Oda emphasizes through Gaban that the true power of the Conqueror's Haki can only be brought out when the user learns to control it properly, paving the way for Zoro to become even stronger.
The fact that he is as strong as he is now even without gaining full control over his Haki indicates that Zoro is about to reach a significant level in terms of power when he learns to fully manipulate the color of the Supreme King. His recent battle against the demon army in Elbaf clearly shows that he has already gained some mastery over this power, and he has used it to create new techniques.
