Fortnite adds special April Fools' Day content, but there's a major catch

Fortnite April Fools' Day has had an inconsistent relationship in the past, with skins such as Diamond Haze some years and then other years' celebrations reduced to a simple social media joke. Fortunately, 2026 is the same as before in the sense that Epic Games is adding meaningful content. Fortnite On the day of the year that every trickster looks forward to… though the downside is that the content is literally only available for April Fools.

The first gag for April Fools' Day is a video game classic: Big Head Mode. FortniteA lot of human-sized skins will have large craniums by April 2nd, which looks as silly as one might think. Interestingly, IGN shared that Epic Games struggled to implement a larger head for Peely, the humanoid banana that has become an integral part of the brand. While this makes sense with his elongated body and pointy head, there are a lot of pale skins in the game. So, to make sure Peely users can have fun, Epic threw a Cuddle Team Leader mask on Banana's head, enlarging the mask instead of Peely's face.

April Fools' Day content like Big Head skins can be found not only in the main battle royale mode, but also in Reload and Blitz Royale.

The first player to hop on will grab the hand of the user at the bottom of the column for a boost, while each player who jumps on afterwards will jump to the top of the stack.

These actions work exactly as one would expect, with players simply pointing at their enemies to deal damage with their hands. Sees another mistake Fortnite’s iconic llamas are being made rideable, while the final joke is the removal of fall damage in favor of a silly splat audio cue.
