The Lenovo Legion GO 2 The gaming handheld lineup recently had a surprising price hike, with the popular PC gaming handheld going up to $1,999 for the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme model. Unfortunately, the increased price of the Lenovo Legion GO 2 handheld is just the latest casualty to affect the PC gaming market worldwide.
Originally released in September 2025, the Lenovo Legion GO 2 is considered a major competitor to the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X and Steam Deck handheld devices. The Lenovo Legion GO 2 is powered by AMD's Ryzen Z2 and Z2 Extreme processors, and initially launched with models featuring 16GB and 32GB of LPDDR5X memory, and an 8.8-inch OLED display. Despite the prominence of Windows 11 in the handheld market, some models of the Lenovo Legion GO 2 came with SteamOS as the main operating system.

Lenovo Legion GO 2 recently got a ridiculous price hike
However, the price of Lenovo Legion GO 2 jumped to a much higher point than before. The Lenovo Legion GO 2 lineup now goes from $1,499 to $1,999 at retailers like Best Buy. The Ryzen Z2 version with 16GB of RAM is currently going for $1,499, a $400 jump from its previous price. However, the price of the Lenovo Legion GO 2 model powered by Ryzen Z2 Extreme APU and 32GB RAM has increased by $650 from $1,349 to $1,999. After taxes and fees are applied, the Z2 Extreme model of the Lenovo Legion GO 2 will easily cross the $2,000 threshold, costing as much as a desktop gaming PC with comparable specs.
To make matters worse, the Lenovo Legion GO 2 is mostly sold out, with limited open-box quantities available at Best Buy as of this writing. By comparison, the Lenovo Legion GO 2's new price is half the cost of the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X handheld, which currently goes for $999 before taxes and fees. Although the ROG Xbox Ally X has seen a price increase in countries like Japan, the degree of price increase is not as steep as the recent jump made by the Lenovo Legion GO 2.
Handheld gaming continues to get more expensive
The Lenovo Legion GO 2 price hike is largely due to the ongoing DRAM shortage affecting the gaming and tech industries. The crisis has already raised prices on the PS5 console lineup and caused Valve to delay the launch of its highly anticipated Steam Machine. Additionally, the shortage has caused Valve to discontinue cheaper versions of its popular Steam Deck handheld. Although the prices of DDR5 RAM kits have started to drop, there is currently no indication that the rates will return to their previous points.
