The following are spoilers for Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 4, Episode 1, “The Other Demon in the Misfit Class,” is streaming now on Crunchyroll.
The Spring 2026 anime season is off to a fun start with the return of some fun iseikai anime, such as Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun. Part of what makes Iruma-kun So effective that it actually focuses a little less on well-worn isekai tropes and is more about emphasizing everyday stories in a fantasy setting. The new season's premiere episode, “The Other Demon in the Misfit Class,” is a good example of this. The story may be its own, but it doesn't feel that way when themes like self-expression and having a sense of belonging form the basis of this episode.
From the beginning, the Iruma-kun The anime was about Iruma Suzuki's efforts to not get outed while making something of himself at Babel's School for Young Demons. His character arc was pleasantly paradoxical as his unusual methods and human perspective made him a standout star, and now, it's Person Soi's turn. He is a hidden student of the Misfit class, one of the most invisible monsters in the entire Netherworld realm. He too is about to become a star, but only if he can find his place in the misfit class and escape his family's strict rules.

Magic is always an exciting power system to tap into in anime series, and these seros handle it perfectly.
Person Soi is next Iruma Suzuki and a great trumpet player
Persona relates to all the quiet or invisible people out there
Overall, the debut episode in season 4 is strong, tapping into one of “The Other Demon in the Misfit Class.” Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kunis the greatest power. It's true that this anime is much funnier when the characters fight, which helps make it an isekai My Hero AcademiaBut Iruma has more to do than fight monsters or pass physical exams. The best battles in Iruma-kun It's personal, with this anime slowly and surely advancing the personal arcs of everyone in the misfit class. Students like Asmodeus Alice and Shax Lead have all changed for the better, and now it's Person Soi's turn as well.
Being invisible on purpose, Persona Soi never stood out among Babylon's strongest demons, but that has now changed, and for all the right reasons. The main story of this episode, and the inspiration for its title, is how Person Soi is finally getting some attention, and just in time for the upcoming music festival. This works on several levels to make the episode enjoyable, starting with how Purson Soi is hiding in plain sight this time. He reveals himself late-game in a new episode of Season 4, with hilarious and surprisingly heartwarming results to make him an immediate but unique standout among all these junior monsters.

Fortunately, Person Soi's newness isn't doing all of the episodes that have finally made their official debut. That gag is fine and all, but the meat of the matter is Soi's inner struggle as a sympathetic monster boy. He cannot easily establish his presence, and his family's rules actually forbid it, so he feels trapped and alone. As a result his social skills are stunted and he fears that he won't be able to connect with his classmates, and worse, the other demons are under too much pressure from him. No one is being bullied, though; This is a wonderful story of simple misunderstandings and how to fix them. Iruma Suzuki is here.
The episode gets stronger when Iruma steps up as the only person who truly understands Soi, which not only helps Soi take the first step out of her shell, but also reinforces what makes Iruma so lovable. He is Babel's only human student, and thus the only one with serious empathy and compassion. Ghosts are selfish and aggressive by nature, but that's not what a persona soi needs here.
Once again, Iruma is a personal hero, saving Soi just as he emotionally saves his other classmates, and it's a promising start to both the new season and Soi's arc. Soi is completely relatable to anyone who feels invisible or irrelevant, and Iruma is relatable to viewers who also have a big heart and lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it.

Iruma-kun Season 4, Episode 1 has the most entertaining arc yet
Both music and categories are in line going forward
It's no coincidence that Person Soi plays the trumpet to vent his innate desire to chat with people, as the entire unusual class is eyeing a competitive music festival in the near future. Even the strongest bloodline magic might not help here, as music is about expression and art, not combat, and that means demon students face a creative challenge. Iruma thrives in such contexts, so it's up to his classmates to put their aggressive ways aside for once. Not only does it promise some great comedy and growth for the class, but most of all, there are some meaningful stakes here.
5 iconic 2000s anime that became more popular over time
The most famous anime series of the 2000s did not have a good start and became popular later.
The big stakes are grades, with students from many unusual classes needing to move up a grade or two to continue using Royal One Classroom. The personal stakes are mostly for Person Soi himself, facing both the pressure and the opportunity to finally express himself and take the spotlight, instead of being invisible as usual. It may have been a complete setup in episode 1, but it's a meaningful setup with rich promises, and that's enough for now.
Season 4 will be a whopping 25 episodes long, so there's no problem with the debut episode taking things a little slower as the next arc takes shape in everyone's head. The fun stakes and emotional pursuit of Person Soi are plenty to make this episode a good start to Season 4, though the action won't exactly blow away Isekai fans.
