007 First light switch 2 delayed

Since the 007 First Light gameplay reveal last September, there have been performance concerns, and those concerns were exacerbated when the game was delayed three months for “polish” and when the PC system specs demanded a CPU that did not yet exist.

Ambitiously, IO Interactive announced a day-and-date Switch 2 port despite the obvious struggles it was already facing on more powerful hardware. However, that port is now late.

007 First Light comes to Nintendo Switch 2 later this summer.

“007 First Light comes to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on May 27, 2026, and Nintendo Switch 2 later this summer,” the official X account posted. “We're excited to see players discover the reimagined origin story of James Bond, and we look forward to bringing the best gaming experience possible to all platforms.”

007 First Light will now release “later this summer” on Switch 2, release date for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC unchanged

No explanation has been given for the delay, but considering the “rough” framerate wobbles in the gameplay trailers shown so far, and the “aggressive” motion blur used to mask it, it's possible that the Switch 2 port needed more time to adapt, given its weaker hardware.

In fact, last year, FromSoftware announced that the Elden Ring port was delayed to 2026 because the team needed more time for “performance adjustments,” while the Borderlands 4 port was delayed indefinitely because Gearbox needed “additional development and polish time.” Reports also suggest that bringing Starfield to the Switch 2 isn't going smoothly, and that it “may not even come out” due to performance issues.
