Most games take longer to finish than it does to finish a show, movie or book. The ultimate goal for media is to have a lasting impact on the reader/viewer/player once it's finished, and games can be hard to finish well, especially when there's a disconnect between story and gameplay.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
A stoic hero never lies
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Started in 2007 and succeeded in tying up the loose ends, which was the first game that came out. Other than that, it managed to make the side quests more important than getting the reward, and most of them were elaborately tied to the main quest. For example, the initial story quest revolved around what to do with the Red Baron, his monstrous child, his wife, and his village.
Depending on how the players handled quests such as rescuing the children, which would destroy the village, the Red Baron would respond in kind and thus shape the story differently. At the heart of it all was Geralt, the titular witcher who was part spy, part mercenary. He did it all for the coin and lead to finding Ciri, but in his creepy way, Geralt also cared for these people, even though things often ended badly for someone.
Red Dead Redemption 2
The good, the bad, and the ugly
Red Dead Redemption 2 Arthur Morgan equally played the Cruyff character. His past was catching up with him, and the worse the decisions the leader of his gang of bandits made, the less Arthur approved. Players can choose to ditch their bandit ways entirely, being kind to strangers as Arthur, or they can lean into the ways of bandit culture in the Old West and be a tough hombre.
Either way, the story ultimately led to the same path. It wasn't a happy story for most of those involved, and it did what most games do: demonstrate the indifference of being an adult in a difficult situation. The writing was excellent, and the acting carried each line with the right weight it needed, making Red Dead Redemption 2 One of Rockstar's best.
Final fantasy 7 rebirth
Continuing the legacy

Longtime fans got something new from the story, as well as classics with updated characters and locations.
5 great games with silly stories
Games themselves don't need a great story to be great. These next games may not make sense, but they sure are fun.
The writing shined most in the character interactions, from small silly moments like Claude judging bikinis on the beach to intimate scenes where Barrett confronts her past. The game perfectly mixes silly, dramatic, and action-packed moments. It ended on a cliffhanger, and realistically, fans will have to judge all three games when they're fully out to see if the writing ultimately worked for this remake project, but for now, Final fantasy 7 rebirth Will not be disappointed.
Marvel's Spider-Man
You are moved to tears
Marvel's Spider-Man Can stand toe to toe with what is considered the best Spider-Man film in existence: Spider-Man 2. Coincidentally, both the game and the movie feature Doc Ock as the main villain, but the game takes place before the infamous Doc Ock became Dr. Otto Octavius does a good job of showing what Peter Parker meant. It made his downfall very difficult to witness, but what really made this game special was Peter as a character.
How he interacted with Aunt May, MJ and Miles Morales was touching. Also, showing Peter working with the homeless shows what makes him such a great superhero: selflessness. At the end of the day, Peter always strives to be the best human and superhero, and the story shows players that the two personalities can often be at odds, leading to heartbreaking consequences.
Batman: Arkham City
Every villain gets his day
Batman: Arkham City Another great superhero game starring the most popular DC character: Batman. In this direct sequel Batman: Arkham AsylumThe facility's inmates break out, and a portion of Gotham is quarantined to handle the outbreak. That's where Batman comes in to clean up the city.
The story and gameplay are like a who's who of villains in Batman's rogues gallery. It seems like the Joker is behind it all, but a deeper investigation reveals that Penguin, Two-Face, and many others are also involved. Like a good episode of a 90's cartoon, the overall story plays out like a good detective story in that the final twist is unexpected, but on reflection, it all makes sense from a writing standpoint.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3
The collision of two worlds
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 A good opening plot has two nations fighting an endless war with heroes on each side eventually discovering that something is not quite right. When presented with new powers and a secret organization that appears to be controlling both sides of the war, allies and enemies join forces to save the day. This may sound like a cliche anime plot, but it's another story where the characters make it worth exploring.
10 games with plot twists better than any Hollywood thriller
Blockbuster movies can't challenge the active elements of video games, and that makes these twists especially effective.
Also, the villains of this organization, Moebius, are always wearing masks, which adds a sense of mystery to the story. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Big mysteries await at the end that give players enough answers to keep them going, and they're on a whole other cosmic level that changes the entire perspective of the story. To call it a twist would be an understatement, but it makes sense and wraps things up nicely.
Ghost of Tsushima
Masking honor
Ghost of Tsushima Based on Japanese history including the invasion of Tsushima by the Mongols. Jin Sakai, the protagonist, fights with his uncle and fellow samurai to defend his land from invaders, but they fail. As a leader, Jin's uncle is kept alive as bait, and as he is a father figure to Jin, he decides that he is willing to do anything to bring him back and drive out the Mongols.
Jim is ready to honor his honor as a samurai to become something else, a ninja, which in the context of this story is a new way of life. Jin's struggle with honor in Victory gives him a lot of weight, and players will sympathize with his plight. It's an emotional ride with great bloody samurai action that boils down to a predictable yet heartfelt closeness between nephew and niece.
Yakuza: Like a dragon
A new hero enters
Yakuza: Like a dragon The seventh is the main one Yakuza Big changes to the game and the series. It replaced real-time action with turn-based gameplay, with the addition of a new main protagonist, Ichiban Kasuga. Unlike the other protagonist, Kazuma Kiryu, Ichiban can be described as a loving himbo. He's not the brightest bulb in the pack, but he means well, is fiercely loyal, and his sense of justice knows no bounds.
After serving a prison sentence for his yakuza family, Ichiban returns home and is rejected by both family and society. He is inevitably out of the house, which then leads to a political conspiracy involving foreign mobs, which may seem far-fetched, but Yakuza: Like a dragon Players manage to believe in the humor thanks to Ichiban as a character. He's truly a legend in modern gaming, and this game certainly puts him through the ringer, balancing high drama with silly satire.
