I can't say enough about how great it is to see a new IP from a well-established studio doing this well. Well done, Pragmata. Capcom is synonymous with Monster Hunter and Resident Evil, to be sure. But there's more to it – I lament that we'll never see the breath of fire again – and the point is, they're just terrible what they do
But it's always a big risk, opening a new AAA video game IP. “Big” is understating it, too. Take a look at ExoPrimal, from Capcom itself. Pragmata is a single-player action-adventure game, and it's a break from anything the studio has done before. In 2026, that in itself is worth celebrating; The fact that it resonates so strongly with players around the world, however, is champagne-worthy stuff.
Positivity overflows
The easiest way to estimate how well Pragmata is doing Professionally Its peak steam is to be seen in CCU. We wrote on Friday that it had killed 56k; By Sunday afternoon EST, it comes within striking range of 70k. Odds are, it's the highest it goes, but that's still pretty good for a new IP.
Always remember, for all the conversations we have on Steam CCUs, they are only one piece of the puzzle. Games can do better (or worse) on home consoles, for example. And there will never be a 1:1 link between CCU and sales; There just isn't. We still check them often, however, because they are a possibility hint. And that's as good as we get as consumers.
For sustainable sales potential – for real momentum in the coming years – Steam user ratings can really make a dent. If you have a game with a “highly positive” (or “very positive”) opener, you're in good shape to make more bank, even if it's a single-player type title. At the very least, most people tend to snag a bargain when going to a Pragmatic sale.

Certainly, “overly positive” is exactly where pragmatism resides. The game has resonated with the vast majority if its players, and that extends beyond the English-speaking review lists that will automatically pop up (unless you're in an English region, like I am). At InstallBase, a gaming forum community committed to tracking the commercial side of the industry equation, we can see that most of the major sectors are in the 95+ range. This post is a little out of date now, as it was written early yesterday and the numbers will naturally be in flux, but it's still pretty close to accurate.
Metacritic's critical review range is 86 to 88 across all platforms. It is very good! However the user reviews are even better. It now stands at 8.9. This is all terrible news for Capcom, who took a real risk to bring a new setting to the first and foremost flourishing world in the AAA field. Here's hoping it helps ignite more innovative projects in the years to come.
