The most satisfying one-piece beat-up

Of course, the long battle with many power-ups and changes in power scales is exciting, especially because thus a piece All of Luffy's transformations are revealed. But to be perfectly honest, there's a certain charm to watching a one-sided beat-up. This is especially true if the recipient of a beat-up is some jerk who deserves it.

However, setting up a good beat-up is no easy task. It's not just about creating a punchable character design, though that certainly helps. Its secret lies in the friction of construction. The conflict must be deeply personal, boiled down through many close fights and false starts. Once it explodes, it's really exciting. Oda owns it.

Luffy beating Richie and Mohji

Bitten by a mohji dog (1)

In the early days of the series, the Straw Hat Pirates met many ordinary people. They weren't fighting powerful villain groups yet, so the average person could more or less relate to them. In Orange Town, Luffy meets a store-guarding dog named Chouchou. The dog has a story reminiscent of Hachiko. Even after he passed away, he continued to guard the owner's shop.

When Buggy pirates terrorize the town, Mohji and his lion Richie raid the store for its food. Chauchou, being its guardian, fought despite the huge size difference, and did his duty. Obviously, it was a one-sided beating. Seeing this, Luffy got to work. He chases the two to retrieve what the dog lost. He knocked Richie to the ground and gave Mohji a satisfying one-hit KO. Although he only managed to retrieve a box of pet food, the scene where Luffy gave it back to Chouchou was one of the most heartwarming moments of the series.

Zoro defeats 100 Baroque Works agents at Whiskey Peak

This beat-up is quite interesting because the build-up is different from just introducing an annoying enemy. Instead, it's about cultivating the aura of a fan-favorite character, and it works!

Baroque Works agents were the first to underestimate the Straw Hat pirates. They did their usual tricks to lure the pirates and steal their treasure. This includes feeding them until they fall into a food coma, completely intoxicating them, and even setting up honey traps. Unfortunately for them, Zoro's alcohol tolerance was as powerful as his sword. He single-handedly defeats most of the agents and even defeats Miss Monday in a ball contest. This scene also cemented Zoro's place in the hearts of many fans.

Luffy knocking out Saint Charles

A broken Luffy punches Saint Charles

Back in the Sabaody Archipelago, the Straw Hats had their first encounter with the Celestial Dragon. Bad, this is one of the worst. Being oxygen-absorbed wastes, they were unbearably inhospitable. This is especially true with St. Charles.

World nobles paraded the archipelago riding slaves. He had no qualms about shooting a man in his path, as he considered them mere vermin. He also joined the slave auction after seeing Kemi. The tipping point was when he shot Hatchi after Octopus Fish-Man revealed his identity. Luffy then proceeded to walk towards Saint Charles despite Pappag's warning. After dodging St. Charles' bullets, he delivered one of the most satisfying punches of the series.

Luffy one shots Bellamy

Luffy punches Bellamy

Even before St. Charles, Luffy knocked Bellamy down two notches with one punch. This happened in Jai, where the Straw Hats were still trying to find a way to Sky Island. At the time, Bellamy and the entire town mocked the Straw Hats for believing in fairy tales. However, Luffy and Zoro ignored the taunts. What Bellamy did to Cricket made Luffy angry.

While the Straw Hats are trying to catch Southbird away, Bellamy and his team arrive at Cricket's house. They then attacked the man and took away his gold ingots. When they heard this, Luffy finally snapped. He went to find Bellamy himself and knocked him out with one punch.

A combined attack of Sai and Leo against St. Charles

Charlos is attacked by Sai and Leo

Just when you thought St. Charles couldn't get any more punched, he returns during the Reverie to try to kidnap Princess Shirahoshi. Good thing Sai and Leo were on the scene too, and they didn't just let the Celestial Dragon have their way.

Protected by CP0, Charlos uses a giant slave to carry away the weeping mermaid princess. Since they were literally in the Celestial Dragon Realm, the other good guys couldn't do anything, because that would mean waging war against the World Government. Since they were pirates, the only hope was the two Straw Hat Grand Fleet representatives. With St. Majosgard taking the blame, the two launched a joint attack that flattened and probably killed St. Charles.
