The sequel to the 2015 story horror game Until Dawn was announced at tonight's PlayStation State of Play. The project is directed by Firesprite Games, the first-party PlayStation studio known for Horizon: Call of the Mountain.
The trailer depicts a group of ghost hunters who appear to be making a large settlement on a sparsely populated island. Predictably, their good times are soon interrupted by a man with murderous intent.
The official synopsis from PlayStation reads as follows, “Our cast this time is a team of ghost hunters, the faces behind the wildly popular supernatural channel, Dead True. Only, well… they haven't really seen anything supernatural. The horrors they're known for, let's say a little step-by-step. But that all changes, when they have to start with a real face. Live up to their reputation to survive until dawn.”
A group of original-actors developed by Supermassive Games have been cast to lend their likenesses and voices to the characters. The cast also features Neil Newbone (Baldur's Gate 3) and Dacre Montgomery (Stranger Things).

If The Until Dawn movie isn't about Until Dawn, what is it?
Is this just a regular old horror movie?
In terms of continuity, the original game's Psychologist (portrayed by Peter Stormare) appears briefly at the trailer's conclusion, suggesting that the sequel takes place in the same universe as the Wendigo-influenced first game.
The final line of the trailer suggests, “All may live, all may die,” which is always a welcome guarantee.
State of play announced by Dawn 2
The Until Dawn brand was potentially damaged by the release of a critically panned film adaptation earlier this year, but that's unlikely to hurt the appetite of genre fans, who have been spoiled for choice in recent years.
The developer of the original game, Supermassive, recently released The Dark Pictures Anthology: Directive 8020, which launched to mixed reviews, which has become typical of the series.
While Don 2 is slated to release next year.
