Xbox With the next round of major layoffs due in July, CEO Asha Sharma said an overhaul of Microsoft's gaming division would begin in the coming days. As of this writing, it's currently unclear how many jobs at Xbox and its various gaming subsidiaries will be affected by the impending cuts.
Xbox will have some major job cuts in July
A day after the Xbox Game Showcase, Xbox is already planning a reset of its company infrastructure. In a letter sent to Xbox staff members on July 10, Sharma laid out some of the key points of the overhaul, which included rebuilding the company's platform infrastructure. While Sharma did not specifically mention any cuts in his letter, sources said job cuts are expected after Microsoft's current fiscal year closes on Tuesday, June 30. Xbox has said it will cut the marketing budget and other areas of the company, though the extent of the cuts is unknown. Sharma said that the profit of the company has fallen to 3 percent year after year. Sharma said that, excluding the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Xbox spent more than $20 billion in ongoing investments over five years, during which annual revenue fell by nearly half a billion.
