We're halfway through 2026 and the rest of the year still looks packed with games. I think most of this is due to the seismic release of Grand Theft Auto 6 throwing a huge spanner in everyone's launch plans, but it means we're getting a particularly top-heavy late summer, and possibly a pretty packed start to 2027.
are load Interesting titles releasing in the next few months, from the new Gears of War, the new Call of Duty, Insomniac's Wolverine, and a few more to boot.

Hello: Campaign Evolved
28 July 2026
Halo: Campaign Evolved is a brand new, modern version of the original Halo: Combat Evolved built on Unreal Engine 5. Its early glimpses have shown a lot of promise, and it reimagines this classic for a new generation.
But it's not just an aesthetic overhaul, there are new weapons, new skull modifiers (like the ability to play the entire game in third-person, and three entirely new missions. It's old Halo in a new frame.

Marvel Token: Fighting Souls
6 August 2026
From the creators of Guilty Gear comes a new Marvel fighting game. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls looks like nothing else in the Marvel universe, with an aesthetic that reimagines the familiar cast of characters in slick new designs and visuals.
Arc System Works has managed to inspire a whole new collection of Marvel fans with the inclusion of some franchise favorites like Green Goblin and Carnage – which we got a glimpse of in a recent trailer.

Resonance: A Plague Story Legacy
27 August 2026
I played a few hours of Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy a few weeks ago and I can tell you that it is definitely a spin-off from the main series of games, with a greater focus on combat than its predecessors. You can read more about my experience with the game here, but for the sake of clarity, my verdict was that this resonance is basically an action film version of the main line game.
Expect a faster pace, more bombastic set pieces, and a whole litany of quirky mythology.

Control resonance
24 September 2026
My colleague Jed King recently got to sit down with a preview build for Control Resonant. He mentioned that fans may be aware of the direction of the sequel to Remedy Entertainment's Basic Control, but we can all be assured that it knows exactly what the studio is doing.
“It may be completely changing the combat style as it moves to melee-centric character action, but the intrigue that drips from every environment and every single line of dialogue remains,” Zed wrote in his full preview, which you can read here.

Blood of the Dawnwalker
2 September 2026
The more I read about The Blood of Dunwalker, the more intrigued I become. It's essentially The Witcher 4 but with vampires. Set in dark 14th century Europe, it looks gritty and miserable like all good video games. Rebel Wolves' debut title has all the makings of being a classic RPG, but with so little left, we can only guess how good it will actually be.
I'm totally hooked on its aesthetic, writing, and concept, so count me in for its release later this year (ha ha ha). Another potentially great title crammed into one of the busiest Septembers I can remember.
Rayman Legends Retold, Valheim 1.0 Release, Fields of Mistria, Grave Seasons, Star Wars: Galactic Racer

Phantom Blade Zero
28 October 2026
Along with its shiny new teaser from PlayStation, Phantom Blade Zero is quietly picking up steam for fans of action role-playing games. Our own Sam Woods played this way in 2025, and although the S-Games title may have been a Soul-like in origin, he compared it favorably to games like Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry in his preview.
It has the potential to be another wuxia hit, such as Where the Winds Meet and Black Myth: Wukong.

Gears of War: E-Day
6 October 2026
I forget that Gears of War: E-Day is coming out this year and not only because it's so stacked this year, but it's also the one I'm probably the most quietly excited about. I have very fond memories of playing Gears of War as a teenager and I haven't visited the universe in a long time, what better place to return to a game that bills itself as “the brutal origin story of one of gaming's most acclaimed third-person shooter franchises.” Gold stars and lollipops write a bit of PR to anyone because I'm all in.
I really, really hope the game leans into the sheer brutality of the so-called 'Emergence Day', the day the dreaded Locust emerges from the ground and starts wreaking havoc on Serra, and from the trailers we've seen so far, it seems to capture that 'one day' feeling which is always exciting.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
23 October 2026
I feel like I say this almost every year, but maybe Call of Duty is back? Following the roaring success of Battlefield 6, it looks like Activision is trying to get one a lot Textbook pages, with (obviously) scraping wacky skins. Nicki Minaj no longer has a parachute over her head.
But it looks like an upgrade in the way Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 has been for the franchise. Sometimes you have to take big leaps, with graphic modernization and gameplay quality of life, to keep the audience satisfied. We think it looks great, but as always, call of duty has to be done so much To return our faith.

Marvel's Wolverine
15 September 2026
I've spent a lot of time writing about Marvel's Wolverine over the past few days (mostly analyzing the September release window, mind), and even though I'm by no means a Marvel fan, I'm starting to wander around. Wolverine might actually become the game I play on my new PS5 before diving into GTA6.
My only hope is that Insomniac's writing matches Logan's supposedly terrifying world, and hopefully its billing as “brutal” and “violent” lives up to my expectations. Some moments in the trailer are pretty brutal, to be fair, as Wolverine jumps off a building and runs his claws into a random grunt's face. Marvel's Wolverine is a must-see.

Grand Theft Auto 6
19 November 2026
Ah, Grand Theft Auto 6 is finally here. Pre-orders are going live very soon, the release date is now fully, 100 percent confirmed. sure? I feel for the developers. How do you say goodbye to such a project? Something that took years to develop at an astronomical cost, making it the most expensive single piece of media ever made?
I have no idea. It will never end, but eventually you just have to let go and let the players do the rest. After a long wait and months of hype, we will finally be able to play Grand Theft Auto 6 later this year.
