Here we are again pointing towards another round of rumours The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Getting a remake for Switch 2, and when I, at one point, was in full support of the idea, the upcoming release. Ocarina of Time The remake made me want to do something else entirely: a full remake Majora's Mask. In the latest episode of his Partida Zero podcast, Nintendo Insider Nash Weddle claimed that a revised version of Twilight Princess The Switch may also come in 2, and given his track record, there's a good chance he's right. The main thing that is in the air right now is this “revised version”. Twilight Princess will be included, and whether it's a remaster of the Wii U port for Switch 2 or a full-blown remake.
More than likely, it's just a remaster, considering Ocarina of Time A remake is already officially on the way and has likely caught Nintendo's attention in the ground-up remake department. However, if the rumors turn out to be true, and it turns out to be a remake, I'm not sure how I'd feel about it. don't get me wrong, Twilight Princess One is fantastic Zelda The game and I want to revisit it on modern hardware, but if we're going to do a remake Ocarina of TimeThe logical next step would be its acclaimed sequel, Majora's Mask– And I'm not saying this because I love the game.

The Legend of Zelda still has two big releases this year, and I can't wait
The Legend of Zelda has been on a roll as of late, but there are still two big releases left for 2026 that I'm very excited about.
Majora's Mask needs a remake more than Twilight Princess
One of my favorite, favorite arguments about whether an already remastered game should get the remake treatment is, “It's already gotten a remake.” That's what people said about it Ocarina of Time When it was re-released on 3DS, and they said about it Majora's Mask 3D Also. I understand that they are technically called remakes, but a true remake – to me – is a complete re-imagining of a classic game, with fresh mechanics, revamped storytelling, new gameplay opportunities, and more that differentiate it from the original on a much less basic level of visuals and polish.
Place the consoles in the correct order.
get started
A true remake needs to make it clear that it's the game everyone remembers without actually being the game everyone remembers. On that note, both Ocarina of Time 3D and Majora's Mask 3D Almost exactly as I remembered them in their classic form, so they don't count as remakes in my book. And while we still don't know the full extent Nintendo has gone into remaking Ocarina of TimeThe teaser trailer alone looks like it will be a new experience that even veteran fans will find unfamiliar in some ways.
Twilight Princess One is fantastic Zelda The game and I want to revisit it on modern hardware, but if we're going to do a remake Ocarina of TimeThe logical next step would be its acclaimed sequel…
They all said, Majora's Mask Still needs a remake, even though its 3DS version claimed that title nearly a decade ago, and needs a remake more than this one. Twilight Princess. That being said, I'm getting there Majora's Mask A remaster is needed, at least, more than Twilight Princess. If Majora's Mask Just got a visual overhaul that harnessed the full power of the Switch 2, I'd pick it. Twilight Princess Without hesitation, simply because I believe this is still a good match between the two.
The only caveat is the fact that I might lose points on this argument Majora's Mask Currently playable natively through the N64 library on the Nintendo Switch 2, however Twilight Princess can't However, one should remember that version Majora's Mask The one currently available on the Switch 2 is the original version, not the enhanced 3D version. In other words, yes, you can play Majora's Mask Right now, but it looks much worse than the version you can play Twilight Princess In its most recent state.
Twilight Princess is a more modern game, making Majora's Mask perfect for a remake
thing is Twilight Princess Not suffering from the same problem Majora's Mask does, and that's another big reason why the latter deserves a remake sooner rather than later. Even in its original form, Twilight Princess It's still easy to play and understand by modern standards because it's already from a later era Zelda Design. Its world is bigger, its storytelling is more cinematic, its combat is more expressive, and its art direction has aged very well, where I believe it still looks great for a 20-year-old game. Majora's MaskOn the other hand, it still carries the N64's limitations behind it, and that's certainly part of its charm, it also makes it. Zelda A game that would benefit most from a complete ground-up revisit.
more importantly, Majora's Mask A remake is a game that can actually be transformed without betraying what made it special in the first place. Its three-day cycle, mask and transformation mechanics, side quests, NPC routines, dungeons, and doomed versions of Termina are all already brilliant ideas, but they're also ideas that modern hardware can take to a level the N64 never could. Twilight Princess Obviously the Switch 2 will look incredible, and I'll gladly take it if Nintendo plans to. but Majora's Mask is Zelda The game with the most untapped remake potential, and later Ocarina of TimeIt seems that a Nintendo should go first.
Majora's Mask is the obvious next step after Ocarina of Time
And that's probably the biggest argument I can make here – if we're going to do a remake Ocarina of TimeIt would only make sense to go ahead and remake its sequel as well. Majora's Mask Heroes of Time is a direct continuation of the story, which means Nintendo will already have a perfect base to give Switch 2 owners the perfect version of that era. Remaking it Ocarina of Time And then dropping straight away Twilight Princess It's like reading the first half of a book, closing the second half before a chapter, and then grabbing a completely different book off the shelf.
Twilight Princess Absolutely deserves its time on the Switch 2, and if Nintendo is indeed preparing some kind of revised version, I won't pretend to be excited to play it. But if Nintendo is opening the door completely Zelda remake with Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask Must be next in line. It needs more help, it has more untapped remake potential, and it makes the most sense as the next step in what Nintendo has already started. Twilight Princess Can wait a while, because Termina deserves its turn first.
