While many shinobi have various Kekkei Genkai, Wood Release is a rare ability that many have historically not used.
In fact, Hashirama was the only one born with this power naturally, and its power was such that it was coveted by many after his death, including his greatest rival, Madara Uchiha. Hashirama died a long time ago. now, Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes is officially adding his successor when it comes to the use of Wood Release Ninjutsu. Decades later, Konoha now has a natural Wood Release user in the form of Moegi Kazamatsuri, who is now confirmed to wield the power of this unique rare Kekkei Genkai.
Moegi Kazamatsuri is officially confirmed to succeed Hashirama as the new Wood Release user in Boruto Volume 4.
Wood Release is a unique anomaly in Hashirama Senju's DNA that allows him to combine Earth Release and Water Release to create various forms of vegetation and manipulate any wooden structure that exists in nature. Wood Release is an incredibly powerful ability, not only due to its vast defensive capabilities and ability to change terrain with abilities such as Deep Forest Emergence, but also due to its unique ability to absorb Tailed Beast chakra, as well as the chakra of any person present in Naruto's world. For all these reasons, Wood Release is particularly unique as a Kekkei Genkai, and it is because of these qualities that even people like Madara Uchiha and Konoha tried to replicate this power in many ways.
Even though all the various experiments Konoha has done have ultimately failed, in the Boruto era, Konoha has naturally succeeded in producing a unique Wood Release user. This person is none other than Mogi Kazamatsuri. In Boruto Vol. 4's official release, Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Kishimoto confirm that Moegi Kazamatsuri is a user of Wood Release.

Why might Moegi be connected to the Senju clan?
While Moegi was officially confirmed to have the power of Wood Release in Boruto Volume 4, we still don't know how she gained access to this ability in the first place. What is clear is that Moegi Kazamatsuri awakened this power naturally, unlike Yamato, who was an experiment created using Hashirama's DNA. Since Moigi is a natural Wood Release user, this brings up the possibility that he is related to the Senju Clan. After all, Hashirama is the only person who had this Kekai Genkai, and he was a Senju. In other words, Moigi may have been related to the Senju or may have been born from a branch family of the Senju clan.

The answer to this question will probably not be revealed anytime soon, but it is possible that there is a blood relationship between him and the first Hokage of Konoha, who died in an unknown period of time. If Moigi is indeed connected to the Senju, it will also increase his chakra significantly. It is officially stated in the Naruto series that the Senju clan is known for having significant reserves of chakra and incredible life force. Moigi's Wood Release Jutsu includes the Green Hue Jutsu and the Vegetation Jutsu

Green-Hued Jutsu: We don't know what this jutsu does, but based on the nomenclature, we can tell that this jutsu somehow spreads greenery around itself, be it in vegetation or through spores that paralyze the enemy.

Vegetation Jutsu: As the name suggests, this allows Moigi to produce vegetation around him and is one of the most basic jutsu within Wood Release which Hashirama Senju used on various occasions.

There are still two Shinju left in Hidari and Jura, whose plotline will be tackled in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 35 on June 18, 2026, with Moigi having plenty of opportunities to shine in battle. After the fall of Shinju, there is also the threat of the Code, as well as the possible reincarnation of Akebi as Otsutsuki. Again, this sets up more opportunities for Moegi to showcase his Wood Release powers and establish himself as the true successor to the First Hokage, Hashirama Senju.
