Over the past few days, some pretty important rumors have surfaced about Pokemon Winds and Waves. The rumors seemed so outlandish that we initially decided to avoid covering them here at TheGamer. Then, infamous, oft-accurate leaker Centro Leak doubled down, saying it's “very likely” Winds and Waves will feature 300+ new Pokemon and forms.
Although this should still be taken with a grain of salt, Centro and other leaks are pretty confident that 300+ new Pokemon are coming.
As the dust settles on that behemoth claim, some early hints about a handful of new Pokémon have come to light, and we've documented them all here.
Arcanine, Psyduck, and Onyx are just three of the new Pokemon to get new forms in the air and waves.
As a lifelong Pokemon fan, I am very cautious about this new rumor. Since its inception, 1,025 unique Pokemon have been created. That number jumps to between 1,247 and 1,464 when unique forms are taken into account (depending on how they are counted). Adding 300 of these adds up to a 30-year accumulation of more than 20 percent.
The rumor is accompanied by the reveal of some existing Pokemon that are reportedly set to appear or get new forms in Winds and Waves, and we've got them all here for you:

There are also rumors swirling about some completely fresh Pokemon coming to the game. They are below:
- [NEW] Komodo dragon line, possibly dragon-type
- [NEW] A “moon rabbit”, possibly normal/fairy or ice/fairy
- [NEW] A “kickboxing tree kangaroo”, possibly grass/fighting-type
- [NEW] “Pirate Bird” themed around pirates and seafaring
- [NEW] A sun hornbill
- [NEW] The Malaysian Sun Bear Pokemon, probably has a Dark or Fire secondary typing
- [NEW] A tropical orchid mantis that has several variants based on the island's jungle flower canopy
The starter Pokemon Pombon is also rumored to be the first Fire/Fairy-type Pokemon in the series. Sadly, for Eevee fans, it looks like we're going through another generation without a new Eeveelution, as the current Pokedex placeholder data doesn't indicate any new entries. Tropius is another Pokemon that fans expected to receive a new form, but early data indicates that this is not happening.
