Developer Santa Monica Studios has officially given fans an update on the disc status and thus the release date. Laufey God of WarBrought up after fans demanded to know. Of course, fans are demanding to know because PlayStation recently announced that it is ending production of physical discs in January 2028 and setting up the PlayStation 6 console to be digital-only.
In fact, some time ago, PlayStation announced its physical disc (and confirmed that it was shutting down PS3 / PS Vita PlayStation Stores), and many fans were not happy. From physical collectors to digital ownership issues, the resulting backlash caused the PlayStation Twitter account to go quiet for days, quieter than ever. While things seem to be back to normal, with many still-upset fans understandably, it's still troubling many developers. However, it is worth noting that fans should not expect hard news Laufey God of War Coming out of the panel. There should be good insight into these characters in line with the narrative scope (BTS stories and character focus), but hard video game news doesn't often come out of the panels. It would be nice to have a new trailer, announcement, or something to go with it, but that remains to be seen.
