Tanjiro's orphan form is a natural survivor
Tanjiro has served the Kamado family as the man of the house for years. This huge responsibility transformed his once frail body into a remarkably strong one with incredible stamina and endurance. Part of his routine includes going up and down hills, chopping firewood, taking care of his siblings, and helping every villager in need to the best of his ability.
Tanjiro's orphaned body may not have been trained in swordsmanship, but it still allowed him to carry Nezuko on his back, withstand his demonic attacks and impulses, and nearly outsmart the Water Hashira, Giyu Tomioka, with his chopping axe. The work he did throughout his time at Mount Kumotori proved to be the perfect preparation for his monster slaying career.

The long-haired Tanjiro endured Urokodaki's harsh training
To this day, Tanjiro's long hair is greatly missed by fans Demon Slayer. He only grew his hair long during his intensive training under Sakonji Urokodaki, a former water hashira in Mount Sagiri, where he spent months learning water breathing and its techniques.
It was the first time Tanjiro received formal sword training, and the demanding practice transformed him from a simple coal seller to a demon slaying candidate. Mount Sagiri was not an easy place to train given the high altitude, thin air and unforgiving terrain, yet the long-haired Tanjiro showed determination and eventually convinced Urokodaki that he was ready for the final selection test.

Tanjiro's passive Demon Slayer Mark form was already very powerful
Unlike Yoriichi, Tanjiro was born without a demon slayer mark. The scar on Tanjiro's forehead was originally caused by a boiling accident as it later developed during a fight against the Upper Rank Six in the Entertainment District arc.
Impressively, before acquiring the Demon Slaying Mark, Tanjiro was already overpowering the demons along with Nezuko, Genitsu, and Inosuke. From defeating the Temple Demon, Hand Demon, and Swamp Demon to cutting off the head of the Spider Demon Mother, Tanjiro finished off all of these enemies with a passive demon slaying mark.

Tanjiro's Awakened Demon Slayer Mark Form defeated the Upper Moon
The Demon Slaying Mark significantly enhances Tanjiro's attributes, from speed, strength, senses, and durability to striking power. In other words, the demon slaying mark increases Tanjiro's overall combat ability to two or three times normal, allowing him to outmaneuver a series of monsters and eventually defeat them in battle.
With the demon slaying mark awakened, Tanjiro successfully defeats Gyutaro, Hantengu, and even Akaja with the help of his friends and Hasira. Without the mark, Tanjiro would not have been able to land a killing blow on these mighty monsters with superior strength and endurance.

Tanjiro's selfless state countered Akaza's compass needle
The fights at Infinity Castle were the most brutal and unforgiving Demon Slayer's history, forcing Tanjiro to rely on the most unorthodox forms of conquest and survival. Through the memories he shared with his father, Tanjiro finally unlocked the Selfless Realm.
In the battle against Akaja, Tanjiro relied on the Selfless Kingdom to enter the Transcendent World. In this format, Tanjiro completely lost his fighting spirit, killing intent, and animosity towards Akaza. He attained a calm state, clearing his mind of all distractions. This state eventually disillusioned Akaza, leading to his unexpected defeat against Tanjiro.

13th Form Tanjiro used all 12 Sun Breath forms
Sun Breathing is made up of 13 forms that were invented by the legendary swordsman Yorichi Sugikuni himself. These forms were passed down to Tanjiro, making him a specialized user of Sun Breath during the Taisho era. In the final battle against Muzan Kibutsuji, Tanjiro used the 13th form of Sun Breathing.
The 13th form of Sun Breathing allows Tanjiro to combine all 12 forms of Sun Breathing together to destroy Muzan's 12 vital organs at the same time. However, the severe injuries Tanjiro sustained while fighting Muzan prevented him from performing all of them at once like Yorichi, forcing him to execute each form one after the other. His version may have been weaker, but it was still the key to exploiting Muzan's weaknesses.

Demon King Tanjiro crossed Muzan Kibutsuji
Demon King Tanjiro is the strongest character Demon SlayerSurpassing Muzan in all respects despite his relatively short screen time in the final arc. He is Tanjiro in demon form, injected with Muzan's remaining blood in an act of desperation.
In this evil form, Demon King Tanjiro was leagues above the power level of every other character in the series, with all 13 forms of Sun Breathing at his disposal, on top of his Blood Demon Arts and his instant resistance to the Sun. If it wasn't for Tamayo's anti-demon medicine and Tanjiro's strong resolve, Demon King Tanjiro would have fulfilled Muzan's original goal.
