a piece Chapter 1188 was officially released in Shuisha's Weekly Shonen Jump issue #33 on July 12, 2026 and features Nerona Emu and Monkey D. The long-awaited battle between Luffy was shown. The clash was huge and, if anything, demonstrated the inferiority of Emperor and current Sun God Nick compared to Nerona Emu, King of the World.
While many of us expected this battle to last a few chapters, series creator Ichiro Oda surprised us all by ending it with just one. This war ended when Nerona Emu, the main antagonist of the entire series, revealed what could be the strongest blade in the entire universe, born directly from the powers called Akuma no Mi. Blade of the Void : Wohu. This sword is incredibly powerful and strong enough to kill even a Yonko in one strike without an attack of any name.
One Piece Chapter 1188 Officially Introduces The Sword of Void: Wohu
a piece Chapter 1188 Nerona Emu and Monkey d. The battle between Luffy showed up, and from the get-go, it was incredibly clear that Emu was dominant in battle. In fact, even at his strongest, Luffy couldn't even hurt Emu. What makes it even more shocking is that in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump issue #31, One Piece Chapter 1186, released on June 28, 2026, Luffy officially states that he is full of energy and cannot imagine losing to anyone in his current state. This message was incredibly ominous, and One Piece Chapter 1188 showed us exactly why this was the case. In this chapter, Nerona Emu shocks us all by declaring that Luffy is too weak to truly be Joy Boy and the battle is over in one fell swoop.
“Of course I know you're not Joy Boy! Joy Boy wasn't that weak!!” – Nerona Emu declares Luffy weak, One Piece Chapter #1188
While the emu fought most of the battle with its pole, in the end a piece Chapter 1188, Emu uses the power of Omen and then the Blade of Nothingness: Wohu, which is a glaive. This blade proved to be very powerful, as it cleared the surrounding forest in the blink of an eye and then Nerona emu to Yonko, monkey d. Allowing Luffy to fully cling and leaving him near death instantly. With its powers, Luffy, who is the current Sun God of the world, has been killed, and it comes as a major surprise for all of us.
Why even Yonko can't withstand the Sword of Nothingness : Wohu
Yonko are the four most powerful pirates in the world a pieceAs confirmed by Garp himself a piece Chapter 432, officially issued on October 30, 2006. These are the emperors who rule the New World like kings and are so powerful that even the world government and navy dare not mess with them directly for fear of an all-out war that could harm them. For Nerona Emu to stand up to such Yonko and take them out completely Sword of Nothingness: Wohu, demonstrates the immense power of this blade.
Emu: Blade of Nothingness: Wohoo!
Luffy: What? The forest is dry!
Emu: Now the scene is very clear.
Luffy: Same from here!
– An exchange showing the power of the Blade of Nothingness: Wohu, One Piece Chapter #1188
Sword of Void: Wohu, being so strong is because of its ability to drain life or life force. When Emu finally created the Sword of Nothingness a piece Chapter 1188, it was clear to see that Wohu was able to immediately absorb the life and vitality around him. The branches of the Adam tree completely withered and finally, withered and disappeared. Apparently, the emu's blade released the power of death or completely sucked the life energy into its conception.
Similarly, when Nerona emu monkey d. Luffy's Gear 5 was struck by this extremely powerful blade, almost immediately the life drained from his body, and Luffy was completely exhausted, white-eyed. Even Yonko's inability to withstand this sword thus relates to its power to completely suck life and leave nothing behind, which is brilliantly reflected in the name, Sword of Nothingness. The name itself refers to a time period where, before God created the world, there was absolutely nothing, meaning that Emu's blade has the power to restore anything to nothingness or absolute nothingness.
Why Wohu doesn't fall under the category of regular blades in the One Piece world
While incredibly powerful, Nerona Emu's Sword of Nothingness: Wohu, falls under no sword category in particular. In the world of One Piece, swords fall under three grades: Skilled Grade Blades, Great Grade Blades and Supreme Grade Blades. The other blades of Wohu or Nerona Emu do not fall into either category because they are not technically “real” blades. They are created using the power of Omen, which Emu can use to create various weapons almost instantly. In fact, Emu doesn't have just one legendary blade. There are several swords that the King of the World has at his disposal:
-
Nerona was a sword first demonstrated by Emu in Blade of Judgment: Nemesis in One Piece Chapter 1181 on April 27, 2026.
-
Nerona Emu then released Blade of Wrath: Gram in One Piece Chapter 1183 on May 24, 2026.
-
In Chapter 1187, July 5, 2026, Nerona Emu unleashes the Blade of Hate: Stigma.
-
In Chapter 1188, Emu finally unleashed the fourth blade, the Blade of Nothingness: Vou.
“Among countless weapons (swords, spears, etc.), these are made by famous masters of the art. 12 Supreme Grade, 21 Great Grade, and 50 Fine-Grade Weapons. — Hitetsu Grade Blade, One Piece explains Chapter #912
This incredibly powerful blade has proven to be the strongest so far at Emu's disposal, but others are strong enough to one-shot the vast majority of Yonko or any of the other top tiers in the One Piece world. Indeed, looking at Emu's Akuma no Mi powers, this person stands on top of the world, with no one even close to him in terms of power. Hopefully, the upcoming chapters of One Piece, starting with One Piece 1189, which is set for release on July 26, 2026, will showcase more of Imu's powers, and we can't wait to see that.
