It's been almost five years since the release of Tale of Arise, the last mainline game in the Tales series. We know games take a long time to make these days, but considering there's no sign of a new Tales game being announced in the near future, we're looking forward to an unusual time when the next game drops.
Bandai Namco has been trying to keep Tales relevant while working on another game, remastering a series of classic Tales games from throughout its history, but they still aren't much of an option for Tales fans who have seen and played them before.
Even Tales' creator admits that we've been waiting too long for a new game
Thankfully, Bandai is fully aware that the last New Tales game has been a long time coming, as in an interview with Famitsu (translated by Automaton), general producer Yusuke Tomizawa essentially apologized to fans who have been waiting.
“The bar has been raised when it comes to scale of development and other factors, and to be honest, we've kept players waiting for a long time,” says Tomizawa. “While we have yet to share concrete information, we continue to work on the future of the series.”
Tomizawa says that Bandai Namco is fully aware of how “urgent” it is to make new Tales games that live up to fan expectations if the IP is to remain strong. These are all good signs from Bandai, and it looks like fans will have to be a little more patient before seeing the new stories, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait given how good the stories that arose were.
