Dark Arisen has the best endgame fix, but barely uses it

Dragon's Dogma 2The long-awaited Dark Arisen expansion is finally set to bring substantial post-launch content to the Capcom-made RPG, but not expanding on Unmoored World is a huge opportunity. It's been two years Dragon's Dogma 2 Hit the scene, and despite the deep potential of the Undead World, Dark Arisen is making the new map region Norgon the focus of the expansion.

There are still a few months left Dragon's Dogma 2The release date of 'Dark Orison', but the team behind the expansion has been sharing a lot of details to ignite additional hype. The RPG site recently interviewed game director Kento Kinoshita and producer Naoto Oyama, and the two revealed some of the exciting features players can expect. A dozen new lost rites dungeons, the snowy realm of Norgan, and new challenges are on the menu, but the Unmoored world is still neglected after all this time.

Unmoored World is a great concept, but it's still very lacking when it comes to what should be a strong endgame area. It's still incredibly underutilized, there's a shocking lack of meaningful content for an area that's supposed to entertain fans well after exploring the rest. Dragon's Dogma 2map of The missions are short, the story leaves a lot to be desired, and the lack of new enemy types makes Undead World a disappointment for many fans.

Easy (120 seconds) Medium (90 seconds) Hard (60 seconds)

Dragon's Dogma 2 Not a perfect game by any means, but there are a lot of cool concepts lurking beneath the surface that would have benefited from more time in the oven. Unmoored World is one of those key features that could be one of the best parts of the game, but it remains pretty barren. On the bright side, Capcom has already moved to correct some of the game's faults by getting rid of them Dragon's Dogma 2Astral dealings are ahead of Dark Arisen. While that's admirable, Kento Kinoshita's revelation that Dark Arisen doesn't influence the Undead World in any major way is surprising.

There won't be a big impact on the Unmoored World with the expansion, but what we can say right now is that there will be 12 Lost Rites dungeon challenges in the Unmoored World. Adding an extension there will have some kind of effect, but it won't have a huge impact on the experience.

Dragon's Dogma 2 puts the spotlight on Norgan

Yes, Norgan sounds incredibly interesting. A cold area filled with rocky, dangerous terrain is bound to be a fun shake-up to the game's map. When talking about Norgan, Kinoshita confirmed that the Dark Arisen expansion is going to add environmental risks and challenges specific to the region.

The weather will be very harsh, so there will be blizzards that block your vision, and there will be gimmicks on the field – for example, there will be something related to avalanches and something related to avalanches. In that kind of environment, we designed the game so that players can think about how they can progress in that area.

It's not like the Unmoored World is void of environmental obstacles. Dragon's Dogma 2The red fog adds an extra layer of difficulty to exploration, but Norgan's environmental obstacles seem more dynamic than they already are. Unmoored World's Wasteland-like design isn't as interesting as it could be. A Dragon's Dogma 2 The DLC has been anticipated for a long time, but knowing that it's not going to make any major changes to the Unmoored World is bound to disappoint some players.

Just because the Undead World isn't getting much love with the Dark Arisen expansion doesn't mean hope for future improvements is lost. There's no word on what Capcom has planned for the future of the RPG beyond Dark Arisen, but a second expansion could always be down the road. It's not impossible, but it's at least possible. Capcom's 2026 games have put the company on a hot streak lately, and it will be interesting to see if Dark Arisen succeeds in making it. Dragon's Dogma 2 A powerful experience.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Also coming to Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time. The Switch 2 port is set to release on October 9th, the launch of Dark Arisen.

Ultimately, adding Norgan rather than improving Unmoored World may be a necessary step to expand the game's replayability. It's hard to say for sure whether focusing on the Undead World would have been a good move or not, but Norgan may prove to be the challenging and compelling area that many were hoping for. Dragon's Dogma 2will be the final playing field.

Undead World could be Dragon's Dogma 2's Bitterblack Isle

Bitterblack Isle was a massive dungeon added with the expanded version of the first game, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. Reusing the name for the sequel's expansion will hopefully ensure that Norgan will be as strong an addition in the second game as the Bitterblack Isle region was in the first. It was an incredibly difficult area, and the environment remains one of the best in the series.

Dark Arisen isn't just adding new territory to the game's map. Expansion is also improving Dragon's Dogma 2Character creator with new customization options.

Unmoored World may never stand a chance Dragon's Dogma 2Bitterblack is Isle's version, but Norgan potentially taking the mantle is better than nothing. As expected Dragon's Dogma 2As the expansion continues, the launch of the DLC is going to be a big moment for the RPG. Dragon's Dogma 2 May not reach the same heights as other 2020 fantasy sports Alden Ring and Baldur's Gate 3But Dark Arisen offers a chance to breathe fresh life into the game two years after its launch.
